I have a question for any breastfeeding pros - since it's been 20 years since I personally did
How long does it take a food that Mom eats - but upsets baby's tummy - to get out of Mom's system(milk)??
I did have one breastfeeding dcm years ago that was able to eat the spicy foods that she loved - but made baby miserable - by pumping and tossing milk after she ate her Thai (or chili) dinners. I just can't remember how many feedings she'd skip (pump/toss)
One of my new dcms is having a similar issue - and as she and I believe that breast milk is like gold - we don't want her wasting more than necessary.

Depends on the food. What's bothering baby?

Chipotle burritos (either the beans, the spice on the meat or the salsa?) and a couple of Indian curry dishes

No idea really, as my son nursed for 2 years and never had any issues. I'd tell her to omit items and try it out so she knows specifically what it is. It's probably the spiciness.

I nursed my dd for 3.5yrs and nothing bothered her. I would tell her to stay away till baby is older and then reintroduce the food into moms diet.

Th next two pumpings should work, possibly 4. However, I just mark with red sharpie, freeze and keep it just in case. When they are older they aren't as sensitive and in an emergency, spicy bm is better than no bm

Thanks guys!!
I never thought to save the milk until the baby (9weeks) is older and might tolerate it better!! I think that's the better option than simply tossing it
I'll share your suggestions with dcm today - thanks again!!
