I have a 2 yr old in care that swears about 1x-2x every week. When he does it he usually says the word 3-4 times in a row. I am not sure if he knows what he is doing b/c he is very advanced verbally and is playing with language a lot. He knows a lot of hard words and uses them pretty consistently in the right context.

He is also a parrot and anything you say he repeats with almost the same inflection and dialect. He is a very plesant boy otherwise. Dad has admitted to swearing a time or two (but says he really doesn't much-and I believe him). Parents don't know what to do about it really either since he is so young and its few and far between.

What do you do when this happens? I have said "use nice words" when he says it but that doesn't usually work. I don't want to give too much attention to something that otherwise would go un-noticed by the other kids. He doesn't respond to time outs/breaks and I don't use them much anyway b/c I save them for major offenses only-rare around here.
