27m old who keeps screaming - Not crying- high pitch squeeling/screaming! I've tried using the quiet symbol (finger to lips), telling him that it hurts our ears, putting him at the table with a quiet activity.

What else can I do? It's hurting our ears.

If you find out let me know!

I have one that does it too! About the same age.

I have an 13 month old doing that now.

They scream. I pick them up, place them on a low level stool in the other room and say, "stop!"

and walk out.

Of course, they usually follow me and I let them because they aren't being punished, just taught that you must behave in a specific manner while in public and currently their public is in the playroom with the others.

When they scream in public, they get removed from public.

If they scream again, I pick them up and place them on the same stool and firmly say "Stop!" and walk out.

Rinse and repeat.

We started this last week and today, they only screamed one time this morning and haven't since.

At one point they were screaming every other minute during the day.

So in my eyes....it's progress.

Totally doing the stool idea with my 13 month old dcb who screeches very loudly. Thanks for the tip. It's just him and I tomorrow so may be a good day to start! Really does hurt the ears and embarrassing in public.
