Would anyone be willing to share their daily schedule? I am currently watching high maintenance babies and they are leaving in June. I have decided to start watching toddlers up until age 5. Right now I dont need a set schedule but I will with the toddlers.

If anyone is willing to share their daily schedule it would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you!!!!

Mine changes when the weather does (as far as outdoor play goes). But, I'd be more than happy to e-mail you both if you would like.

I have a very open daily routine, with as few transitions as possible leaving large blocks of time so that we can get thoroughly immersed in play and project work without interruptions. (My teaching is inspired by the schools of Reggio Emilia, and that influences my schedule tremendously.) Here's how I explain it in my handbook: "Our days follow a predictable routine, providing familiarity and security for the children. However, it is not a rigid schedule, in which everything happens at the same time every day. Passionate involvement in a project, the mood of the group, and weather conditions all play a role in deciding when we’ll move on to the next thing. In Reggio, they talk about “appointments” in their day— lunchtime, for example—around which they have lots of flexibility. Here, then, are our current routines and appointments." I explain the day in great detail after that, but here's the basics:
8:00 Arrival, settling-in, and outdoor play
9:00 Everyone’s here; snack is available; we leave if we’re going somewhere. But usually, we're in the yard. Snack often becomes an informal meeting time.
11:00 Clean up and lunch prep.
11:15 Lunch (at this time of year, lunch is outside, too), followed by potty, hands, teeth.
12:00-2:00 Nap
2:00 Nap ends; project time, free play, and snack. (This time of year, this all takes place outside, too.)
4:00 Winding down and cleaning up
4:30 Closed.

Mine is very flexible as all me children are 32 months and under. We do have circle time everyday though because the older children like it, the younger children can sit and join if they want, but don't have to. Meal/snack times do not change.

DAILY SCHEDULE

6:00 - 7:00 Drop off/Free play
7:00 - 8:00 Breakfast
8:00 - 8:50 Explorer Time
8:50 - 9:15 Circle Time
9:15 - 9:45 Morning Snack
9:45 -11:00 Outdoor Play and/or Messy Explorer Time
11:00 - 12:30 Lunch Prep. And Lunch Time
12:30 - 3:15 Brush Teeth/Nap/Rest Time
3:15 - 3:30 Afternoon Snack
3:30 - Pick up Outside Play/Free Play-indoors or out

* Diapers are changed as needed.

* Potty time is as needed, specific to each child.

* The daily schedule is based on the demands of the children and may be altered to fit the needs of the daycare and children. Scheduled meal and nap times are for children 12 months and older and will not change.

* During Explorer Time the children have free play in the playroom. Messy Explorer Time includes art and sensory activities.

Hope this helps a little!

7:30 arrival-free play until 9:20

8:15 breakfast

Creative art activities or cooking activities about 9:00-not done as a group until they are older. They are not required to come over for art or other activities.

9:20 clean up

9:30 circle time - about 5 minutes for young 2's, longer as they get older. No more than 10 minutes. Story. Music & movement, flannel board activities, etc.

The centers I have set up for my young group....two 2 1/2 yr olds, 18 mo old, 15 mo old and an infant...(I am waiting to be licensed so I can have a full house) are general toys, housekeeping center, puzzle center, book corner, easel/drawing center....they use washable markers, & a simple science center. As they get older there will be a playdoh/clay center, math center, flannel board center, art cart, literacy center, small manipulatives, more involved dramatic play area, & writing center.

For now I get out markers, playdoh, matching games, flannel board pieces, etc., but they are not out all the time.

I plan off themes, work on some counting, colors & basic shapes for 2's and introduce the harder shapes at three, at three we master shapes...I do a tiny bit of sound and letter awareness at 2 & 3 yrs and some counting/number awareness. I come from a background of teaching 4 K and kindergarten but don't believe in pushing kids & concentrating on number/letter mastery too young. There are so many other fun things to do.......

9:50 a.m. Snack

10:15 outside play

11:30/11:45 come in and wash up from outdoor play

12:00 noon meal

12:30/12:45 nap time

2:45/3:00 up from nap

3:15 p.m. Snack

3:30 outside again or indoor play during the winter

5:00 last child leaves

This may change due to ages of kids or weather.

Some days I add in homemade math games, file folders, literacy games, etc. before or after lunch depending on the age of kids and/or weather
