I would love to get a headstart on the gift that the kids make for their parents for Christmas. I've done ornaments with their handprint, ornaments with swirly paint inside of them etc., plaster handprints. Does anyone have any ideas that a 2-3 yr old can do mostly by themselves for a gift?

Someone has mentioned making ornaments (or could be "stained-glass" decoration for the window) by using contact paper, tissue paper and their picture.

I let the kids make gifts for their parents but I only give to the kids. My gifts from the families are "from" the kids as well.

Here are a bunch of links to this project. Some appear easier than others.

This site shows tissue paper on glass jars as a really pretty idea for pencil holders, decorative vases etc... really cute.

I just saw a picture so I'm making them by site lol!

Just fill up the jars and screw the lid on. The top is Marshmallow's, middle is Hot Coacoa and bottom is Peppermint candies.

Then I started with the bottom and glued the lid of the bottom jar to the bottom of the second jar and so on.

I'm using a hole punch for the black buttons and cutting a orange triangle and some red ribbon for the accents.

The kids helped fill the jars, I super glued the lids to bottoms, and then the kiddos are decorating their smiles, buttons and scarfs

We made these last year! Super easy, cheap, and cute. This is just a stock photo I found online. I didn't think to get pictures of the finished project last year.

Sorry I couldn't respond about the contact paper ornaments earlier. I didn't check out the links BC posted, but when I made stained glass window decorations this summer (we did red, white and blue starts for the 4th of july) I taped contact paper onto the table, sticky side up. Gave them tissue paper squares that the placed inside. Then I covered it up with another piece of contact paper and cut it to size.

Those tealight snowmen are adorable!

I also saw a picture of a clear plastic ornament, filled with mini marshmallows, and then snowman face pieces taped/glued/painted (I couldn't tell what they used in the photo) onto the bulb so it looks like a snowman head.

Cute reindeer! We did reindeer yesterday, using hands for antlers and feet for the body. With under 2's they're especially cute.
Can't remember if we did these for Christmas or not, but we took an old clean vase(who doesn't have a cupboard full??) and the kids would pick out the color paint they wanted to use; we'd dribble some down the insides in different places, then let it continue flowing down inside. If everything doesn't get covered, you can always add more. It takes awhile to dry; then you spray the inside with sealant. They came out sooo pretty! You could stick wrapped candy canes or make chocolate covered pretzels and wrap them up, to give as a gift.
