Today is my Friday because I am leaving tomorrow with ds to a high school conference. I feel like there is so much to get done because I will get back, dead tired, Sunday evening. So I am trying to get everything ready for next Monday too. My dh and dd will be home so hopefully if I leave them a list they will get a couple of things done for me.

I am the "catch up over the weekend" person and I am loosing this weekend and next. This is the balancing life and working at home meet for me.
So today, laundry, a little cleaning, kids early...
Good thing my adult daughter is home... she can watch kidos so I can clean my living room.

So are you a "catch up over the weekend" person? Or a "I am organized and get it all done during the week so I have my weekends" person? (Laundry, grocery shopping, cleaning non childcare areas of the home etc)

Nope, I am like you and do all my catching up over the weekends.

I like to spend my evenings off after work during the week relaxing.

Weekends are crazy busy for me and my DH but we both pitch in and get stuff done, whether it's yard work or house work.

It's a bit harder now that my kids have grown and gone because I now realize how much they pitched in...

I love when my DD visits too because she always does some laundry or helps out with daycare if it's a work day. I suspect she only does my laundry though so she can use the washing machine herself.. but my laundry gets done (folded and put away) so I rarely complain.

Your next couple of weekends sound busy! Are your kids still in school this late in the year?

Hopefully your DH and DD will follow through and take care of things while you are gone.... and I hope you have a great time! Even when it isn't necessarily a relaxation trip, getting away is fun!

Breath deep today and remember the world won't end if you don't get the living room cleaned!

Have fun!!

I so badly want to be the organized and get things done throughout the week person when I grow up lol. However, I am the catch up over the week end and maintain/survive throughout the week type! We have an out of town wedding this week end so I too am trying to make Sunday night more bearable by getting stuff done now...Laundry is my biggest enemy at the moment :-\

Ive got a pretty good Thursday/Friday system where I get most of the housework done during my work days so the weekend is free. By free I mean I'm free to run errands, drive my dd's to a million different things and do household projects that aren't related to clean. The weekends are busier than the work weeks!

Anyway, I do sacrifice most of my naptime on Thursday and Friday each week but I usually have a spotless house at pickup on Friday afternoon which is AMAZING!!! I've been doing this for about a year after trying out a cleaning service and finding I hated it. I only end up doing about 3 hours of cleaning between the two days so it isn't that bad. Thursdays are washrooms, vacuuming (only stairs and bedrooms), deep cleaning kitchen and appliances, front hall tidy and I pick up general clutter that's accumulated during the week. Fridays are sweeping and mopping floors, bedrooms and family room. The kids aren't allowed anywhere but the playroom and outside on Friday afternoons either.

I'm a little of both. I do grocery shopping for the week either on Sat. or Sun., laundry is done either on the weekend or Mon. or Tues. during nap. Sometimes I clean (things other than dc) during nap, other times I wait for the weekend. Dh does all the yard work and I do the inside work (not even if you ask me). My dd has chores like vacuuming, feeding the dog, picking up dog poo, and loading and unloading the dishwasher. And yes, bc, it is a tremendous help when your kids can help you!

BC- We homeschool. Ds does school year round at this point with how busy he is. (BTW he is the NRA national champ in air rifle) He is in Ga the end of the month for nationals (with the possibility of Spain in the fall) and back in CO end of June (with a 5,000 scholarship on the line) For others besides BC - my ds is a competitive shooter, air rifle and small bore. He is finishing up his junior year of high school.

Dd graduated from college with honors (elem education). Was accepted for a grad program and is heading to camp in a week to work this summer. It is a very impressive camp with a trapeze! But for the next week when she is not "nannying" for a family she is mine to work.

I try not to stress over my house- but I hate coming home to augh it is Monday and I got nothing done. Esp. with taking ds this weekend and dd next weekend to camp. Oh well, I have the weekend after that to "catch up"

I grocery shop Friday night-usually don't get home until 8:30/9pm (Leave the house at 6/6:30pm). Saturday & Sunday are catch up days. Honestly I usually waste most of Saturday by sleeping in & mowing the lawn. Then Sunday I run around like a crazy person trying to get it all done.

My goal this summer is to get a better system down. Take an hr during the day for household stuff. By the time everybody leaves at the end of the day I'm just done. I try to run a load of dishes before I go to bed but sometimes it doesn't happen.

We have a similar goal. My problem with naptime cleaning is that is when I do schoolwork with ds

Your upcoming weekends do sounds busy!

I get it all done during the week. I have a pretty organized system to make sure everything is getting done.

Do any of you have a SAFEWAY near you? I have been using them for the past year to deliver groceries, this saves so much weekend time. I make the menu, order groceries, on Friday. I have them delivered on Monday morning between 8-10am. As long as you're ordering over $150.00, you can use coupon codes to get free delivery. They bring them straight into your kitchen It's really been a life saver!

Dishwasher runs twice a day and I do it after their breakfast time and again at nap.

Cleaning is done somewhat as needed during the week...when I see it starting to look like it could use vacuuming in the house then I just do it (typically before work begins).

I start a load of laundry every morning and change it over and fold it around nap time, typically, or right after work.

Grocery shopping is done on Fri or Sat night.

I am most definitely a get things done during the week person so I can chill out over the weekend person. On Fridays after the last kid leaves I put all daycare stuff away behind a closed door and I don't want to see it again til Monday morning. I used to have to keep it all in the livingroom and I didn't like that. I felt like I was always at work.

I usually take nap time as my break (generally I get 45-60 minutes to sit & breath after lunch clean up before the first baby is up)

I'm *thinking* of doing three 20 minute spans throughout the day while the kids are playing and doing some catch up/cleaning (laundry, mop the kitchen, clean the bathroom, etc) since I can see and/or hear the kids while doing those things.

My challenge is teaching the kids to GO PLAY while I do those things. Inevitably I have a follower (or 3) who drives me insane when I'm trying to do something. They each have their own little jobs during the day but there's certain things I'd rather not have 'help' with, kwim?

I think a 'cleaning break' for myself would do wonders for my mental health as well!

I really try to stay organized but have fallen behind. Weekend is catchup for me as well! Got so much deep cleaning (closets, basement, outside work, etc.) I would love to get done, but seems I only get the basics done(laundry, dishes, floors, yard mowed, etc.). For what it is worth, I do have "good intentions", but we all know the sayings about "good intentions".

This is my system as well. I also HATED having a cleaning person. Felt like more work to get ready for them.

You could always hire an errand runner… I use to go shopping for people like you that were crunched for time. Worse case scenario is I have to pay 15 plus cost of groceries, but it's a tax deduction when I absolutely can't get to store
