If your handbook states that you may not be present at drop off if the family is late with no phone call, how long do you wait? Totally hypothetical of course but I was wondering what a fair time frame is.

Fifteen minutes. They should have called or texted by then and if not, their loss.
I give my parents 30 minutes.
I have one parent though that gets here at 830 and I have to leave at 845 to take the kids to school. So I tell her if she isnt here by 845 I will be gone.

My families all know we leave for most field trips by 9 a.m.
If they don't at least CALL before the time we leave, we go without them. If they give me the courtesy of a phone call, then I don't mind waiting.

That's what I was thinking too! Thank you!

I stay until 9am and then they have to come find me.

I give mine an hr. after contracted drop off time.

If they don't call by 8am saying that they are late, or the child will not be attending, I cannot guarantee that I will be home, especially if that particular child is the only one in care that day.
I terminated a family 2 months after I started doing childcare... 2 times the child was a no-call, no-show, and his drop off time was 5.45 am!
