My ears were growing weary of listening to children music daily (Christian, nursery rhymes, curriculum songs, etc.). Yesterday, I turned on the radio to the Christian station and it was like a breath of fresh air. I didn't even feel like I was at work.

I have no idea why I have never done it before (I suppose since we are more a preschool than an in-home daycare and it seemed "wrong"), but it made the 11 hour work day feel a whole lot shorter.

I like to put on "appropriate" country music..
I was leery at first , then all the kids starting singing the songs, they already knew the words!

We play K-Love every day here! One day one of the kids asked if K-love was on-it was a cd that was playing.

Then today one of the songs was on and one of my little ones looked up and said "I like this song alot".

YES!!!!!!

I use the relaxation station on pandora. Classical, new-agey stuff but really nice. Soothes the crazies sometimes :P

other times I turn it to Toddler Radio on Pandora and they love that. Lots of upbeat stuff but I can only take so much children's music.

We listen to PBR radio during naptime. Classical music is relaxing and they nap great. Now as adults if they go to a concert they may fall asleep. LOL

We listen to the Beatles here and a 60's music station on the tv. I can't listen to kid's music all day.

I've got our local Christian station playing pretty much non-stop here (Life 100.3 -- you can listen online too ). I just put it down low so that you have to really pay attention to hear it while we're doing circle time or whatever. It helps BIG time to hear another adult's voice in between songs sometimes.

And, it helps that one of the DJs is my hubby's best friend!

Ours is KLTY 94.9. We listen online since I don't have an actual radio over in the daycare area.

I go to the library every week to get music from different countries. It expands the kids music experience as well as mine. They really like old French folk songs, Middle Eastern music and African drums. Next week we will try Opera and Hawaiian music.

This summer I had 2 kids adopted from Russia (3 & 4), and one day I found a Russian children's station online. They had been here almost a year, but the look on the 4 yo's face when she heard it was priceless.

I have a couple of the Kids Bop CD's- the ones that are the popular songs with appropriate lyrics. The kids sing most of those songs anyway, and they love the CD.

That is a great idea about getting music from the library. I will have to check it out.

I have lost contentment. The kids are behaving in a crazy way today.

I kid, I kid. I'm still content. Just a little bit crazier.

Sorry the kids are a little crazy today! Now it's time for you to have some wine after work!

Guess what we are listening to today? Christmas music! I know, I know... we haven't had Thanksgiving yet. But I just LOOOOVE Christmas music. I especially love the Trans Siberian Orchestra (which is a majority of our Christmas music) and so do the kids! We are learning to listen for the guitar, piano, violins, trumpets, flutes and drums.

What a great idea! I think we will be doing the same this afternoon. I need to feel like we've made it to the end of the year.
