Default What Should I Do With This Extra Room?

I have a small bedroom directly off the playroom (opens to the playroom) which is currently used to store extra furniture from our family and a pack n play for naps. I'd like to do something with the room. Its not really functional as a guest room because I have some daycare storage in there, plus the pack n play that is used daily for naps so I might as well use it as part of the daycare.

What can I do with this room?

It is completely closed off from the line of site if you are in the playroom so I dont know for sure about letting the kids go between the two rooms....I am not regulated in anyway about this but if I was to use this other room, it would have to include activity of some sort that was completely child proof and that I wouldnt have to be in there watching every single second. The majority of my kids could handle that option....but should I try it?

What would you do with an extra room like that?

I would consider making it a reading nook or quiet area where they could listen to music using headphones or just relaxing and hanging out.

Maybe set a limit of 2 or 3 kids max in the room.

Any area that is separated from the normal daycare area is a hit with kids. They love being able to have a space just for chilling out and chatting.

Maybe hang a canopy or veils or sheets from the ceiling and put huge floor pillows and cushions on the floor with some book shelves lower down. Make the room really warm and cozy....lots of stuffed animals, textured pillows and soft blankets. Glow in the dark stars on the ceiling.....

I love the idea of a max number of kids. I thought I would put some sort of visual system for the kids that are allowed in there (stoplights?) so once they get a second warning about behavior, they are out of the room for the day.

This could work out really well next summer when my five year old is home from school and needs a break from the daycare kids.

Make it your housekeeping area or your block area I have seen rooms like that gated or a dutch door then it is for older kids only for art activites or small toys

I have a room exactly like this. its off my kiving room actually which is where my daycare stuff is. in that room is my pnp, nap mats, changing table, reading nook/library, science table, circle time area, and dress up area with mirror. i know the dress up mirror doesnt really go there but i have pets and this way i can hang all the costumes and accessories in there and not have to worry about putting then up egeryday, the dogs eating it or getting pet hair on the stuff. but when ee go in there its all of us. so while i cgange diapers the kids can look at books, discover science etc. i also like having circle time in there because theres nnot so mnay tiys to distract them. but im getting a little infant so i might movle circle time to the main daycare area.

If you absolutely can't find what you want to do with this room I will take it off your hands! I so could use an extra room!

I would just evaluate your needs and decide from there.

Do you want/need:
*A separate nap room (with the cribs and cots/toddler beds)
*Daycare storage (like the other post for thematic storage)
*Reading nook/hideout (with bookcases and comfortable couch and pillows)
*Large motor room (you could put slides, balls, etc in there) if it is a large room
*Big kid activity room (with science exploration items, sensory bin, arts and crafts and other items you would not want the younger children having free access)

I personally would use it as a nap room, but that's because I want a separate nap room (also where I can store daycare stuff).
