Daycare Center and Family Home Forum>Parents who let their kids ring the doorbell repeatedly
Unregistered 06:39 AM 10-27-2014
Need punched in the face as soon as I open the door lol seriously this is a problem almost daily. One day I was in the bathroom and a daycare mom rang the bell 5 times I was so mad in opened the door and said patience are a virtue. Anyone know how to disconnect a doorbell? Any other solutions to this issue? Thanks for your help.

I have a small sign that hangs down over the doorbell button that says Do not ring doorbell, please knock. Works very well. Of course all my dcf's drop off at my playroom door where there is no doorbell, so it's never really been a problem.

Totally agree! Like pp, I put a sign but actually over the doorbell that says, "shh, babies sleeping- don't ring doorbell". It worked, but this was a few years ago. I don't know how to disconnect, but I always felt like, why should I?! Shouldn't the parents teach some darn respect?!

Btdt.....
Mine disconnected in the box where the bell chime comes from.
Years ago had to disconnect it because of a rude dcm. I didn't even tell her, she'd be out there pushing away, and ask on a regular basis if my door bell worked, I'd just tell her it worked fine ...........

I have a sign on mine too that says dont touch, I put a planter in front of it so that it would keep it out of sight out of mind.

recently when in the middle of a term, I had a childish mother tear the sign down and ring the bell.

other than the PITA DCM it has worked like magic..

I stick to my previous answer on the parents stepping on the grass thread... Jerk the door open and smack the parents with a newspaper...

Hang a sign on the doorbell stating there will be a $5 charge (payable in cash immediately) for every single "ding-dong".

This is one of those issues that requires straight up communication:

"DO NOT ring the door bell!!!!!"

Little sign:

One ring is plenty,
Two costs you twenty!

I raise my eyebrows, open the door and say to the CHILD, "OH DEAR, LITTLE SO-AND-SO!!!!! ONE ring, please." The children will just look at me like HUH??? Sometimes, they'll say, "That was mommy!"
I know when it is the parents/grandmas. They look at me shocked and say, "Oh um, that was me..." and I will say, "OH MY. " with a great blank stare. The discomfort they feel seems to curb their excitement to ring my bell 3-5 times and knock.

Love this!!

Mine had a battery on the ringer part of it. I just took the battery out & never bothered replacing it. Now they come in through a different entrance with no door bell.

I let the battery die in mine and when asked if the doorbell works I said no something is wrong with it sorry. Then DCM takes it off the wall and starts taking it apart to fix it so I can hear her ringing. smh
