CACFP AND my licensar showed up today, within an hour of each other. My kids went bonkers for the CACFP lady (observed our entire lunch!) and ALLLL I could think about was CountryKid's group! I got them calmed, through story time and ready for nap and my licensar shows up and observes nap, goes through my entire home, then goes through ALL of my paperwork. She was here for an hour! During that time my ONE dcb that doesn't do well when his Mom picks up, and acts out when other parents show... went NUTS. He was pulling things off the wall, hanging on doors and swinging, hitting, hitting with toys, and I finally just separated him from the group (where I could see him). My licensar said, "Are you considering terming? I would have called his mother to come observe this behavior and take him home immediately!" Yep, THAT BAD.

I already have another issue to address with Mom at pickup (financial) so add this in the mix too. AND all of the parents show around the same time, so this should be interesting.

OMG!!! I would have had an anxitey attack.

Last Wed (before thanksgiving ) my fp rep came and my house was a disaster. OMG I was ready to crawl under the table and hide. My kids were crazy and by the end of the hour I wanted to cry. My hubs came home (not working that day) 3 min after she left and I just about lost it on him. luckily we survived but OMG was I embarrassed.

About the parent:
I would call the mom and tell her you would like to chat and not while other parents are present so you would like to have her come at X time, maybe 10 min before other parents or 10 after others leave.

She won't/can't come in early, but we have a phone conference scheduled for this evening since I have activities with my own children and am not available to meet in person. We will see.

There were two times my food rep corrected his behavior ( ) showing food, spitting on his plate!

THEN my licensar had to tell him that he wasn't following rules and needed to listen or SHE would call his Mom (which made him sit because he wasn't going to sit for just me!)

This is also the kid I feel terrible telling ANYTHING to Mom to, as she spanks as her main method of discipline/correction, or sends him to bed without dinner/very early also. So, dcb will probably be getting spanked, then going to bed the minute we get off the phone. It doesn't work (obviously) but she swears by it. I just don't think that it works effectively when he is AWAY from her. I'm sure my kids would listen to me if I hit them and then put them in bed with a lock on the door, too. They wouldn't have a choice. Transfer that parenting technique to a child care setting, where my only discipline options are redirection and separation and he isn't 'afraid' of my consequences.

Sorry for the rant!

What a headache!

I would be very upset if the inspector came during naptime and woke up my children.

On the same day, and during naptime, really bites. When my licensor comes out, she's here for 2.5 hours. Last month she came 15 minutes before lunch was served and was here for majority of naptime.
Last week when YoungStar quality rating advisor came out, he wanted to walk through the house even tho he knew I had to get ready for my trip in a couple hours and that all the kids were sleeping and I was trying to keep it quiet.
I dislike the disruptions, especially when they end up waking kids who are then cranky AND not acting normally.

2.5 hours omg?? do you really have to stay that long to do what you need to do?? smh.. i know its necessary, but i truly hate the intrusions and then the food program im thinking of stopping all together because Im forced to worry about providing food the kids
1) hardly eat
2) the parents dont even provide them at home

smh..

Well I spoke to DCM on the phone at 8:30 last night and she reacted like I thought she would. DCB was spanked prior to arrival this morning (which I think is SO STUPID as I don't spank anyway, but it is SOOOO delayed that it doesn't even make sense!) So of course, he was in tears this morning and was NOT happy about coming here. His verbal abilities are OK for his age but his comprehension is a wholllleee different story so I told Mom that I disagreed with how she handled it and gave her suggestions (for instance, writing an apology 'note/picture' to the child he hit) replacing the car he broke/because he threw it with one of his own, etc. She said she would 'think about it'.

We were told there will be more and more surprise inspecitions during naps. WHY because there have been stories of providers hiding kids because they were over limit. AND if they are sleeping it is much harder to scoot them out the back door.
