What information do you have on your sign in sheets ? Oklahoma law, only states that attendance records must be kept.

But to CYA, I have had parents put time in/time out on a weekly sheet. This week I added a signature line (still on a weekly sheet) so the line is pretty small - and most parents are initialing. I figure it will never hurt me to have the name (or initials) of the person dropping off/picking up. I like doing the weekly sheets because it is a lot less paper.

Also, how do you handle if a parent forgets to sign in/out ? I usually just fill in the time - but now that I have a signature line - what do you think I should do ? I have been writing the name of the parent that picked up, and initialing my own initials in parenthesis. To signify that I filled this out.

We also use Tadpoles iPhone app for daily reports, photo sharing, and another way to keep track of attendance. It would be nice to set up my old laptop in place of the sign in sheet, and have the parents click their children in on the tadpoles website dashboard - but there will be no way to tell who dropped off/picked up.

I like the tadpoles option, because it is paperless - and also it automatically calculates the number of hours a child is in care - and that will help with contracted hours.

THOUGHTS ?
I always just like to have all my bases covered.

I just have a sign in sheet and put the date next to it, so I use one sheet as long as it lasts. Then when it's filled, I start another one. My parents put childs name, time, signature phone # they can be reached at, time out, signature. If a parent forgets I add the time and put MOM or DAD or whoever dropped off. Then at pick up I remind them to fill out the sheet please! I also have my sign in sheet right on the kitchen counter where they hang up their coat and put thier bags, so they do everything all in one shot.

I've never used tadpoles so I am no help there. But I know in babyconnect there is a place to ad a note. So maybe they could put thier name in the note part? If that is an option

Name of the child...weekly date...parent has to Write arrival and departure Time and initial both. If a parent forgets, I make them complete it next time they come. I use a new sheet ech week.

I also use a weekly time sheet with child's name, time in, time out and parent's initial beside both. I check the time sheet each morning after my last drop-off - anyone who forgot to sign in will be highlighted in red so they are reminded to fill it out at pick up (I can't remember something like that for 10 hours!) and if they forget at pick up it's highlighted to be filled out at the next drop off.

All of my parents occasionally forget, especially during unusually dramatic drop offs or hurried pick ups... but I've only ever had one parent who consistently forgot. Then again she "forgot" all my policies ALL the time and has since been termed

Where I live we have to keep a sign in/out sheet but the parent isnt required to sign it. (I could sign it) but its name of child, date, in/out times, and parent signature. I also do meals counts on that same sheet so I dont have to keep a second sheet for the food program.

Where I live, attendance is the only thing required as well. I recently switched to checkinkids.com on an iPad. SO MUCH EASIER THAN A SIGN IN SHEET!!
