I am trying to be sure I have the correct form. Everything I find for form 8829 Expenses for Business Use of the Home, is dated 2009. Is this correct? Did they not update the date on these??? Just want to be sure I file the right one!

I believe we are still waiting for the IRS to release the 2010 form. I heard it would be available in the first couple of weeks in Feb - do not use the 2009 form!!

Is it going to be different that the 2009 form? I am wondering if I can go ahead and do it using 2009 as a template and then transfer to the new one once it releases.

The gov't is so far behind on tax stuff this year. I went to our post office, library AND IRS office last week. Finally I got forms from IRS, but that was after waiting for 45 minutes. It is crazy!

As of today the IRS has still not released the 2010 version of Form 8829. Yes, you can use last year's version to enter your expenses and then transfer them onto the 2010 version (which will probably be very similar).

Thanks Tom. I am so frustrated with trying to find the forms I need. I am not normally in such a rush, but i have a senior this year and we have to fill out the FASFA stuff for school by Feb 15th.

Today the IRS released the final 2010 version of Form 8829. It is the same as the 2009 form (Why did they wait until now to release the 2010 version? I don't know).

You can find it at: http://www.irs.gov/pub/irs-pdf/f8829.pdf
