For those of you that converted a garage or basement with concrete floors into your childcare area, what did you use to cover the floors? I’m thinking the foam interlocking mats that you would use for a gym would be the best option but have also considered using an epoxy to finish the floor and lay rugs down. I’ve finally convinced my husband to convert our garage into my daycare area!

Where I live most homes are on concrete slab foundations. Any flooring will work. But you want a little give. Laminate works well. Or those rubber backed carpet tiles.

I have engineered hardwood. It’s really durable and looks great. Then I have several area rugs. Then a baby area with gymnastic type mats. They are super cushy and Velcro together. I had those put together foam mats ones but that had letter pieces you could take out and just didn’t work for me. They do make those put together foam mats more like exercise ones in larger pieces without the pull out letters and numbers that would be a good option also. I saw some large ones at five below.

I have commercial carpet tiles from a discount store. They're great, but I don't permit food in that area of the house.
