Daycare Center and Family Home Forum>Taking Control Back, Pinterest Style!
bunnyslippers 04:47 PM 02-21-2013
I am taking control back of my life. For the past few years, I have put everything on the back burner, always saying I would get to it later. I think a lot of it has to do with the daycare ~ at the end of the day, I just didn't care about much of the little detail stuff in my own home.

Today, I organized my pantry. Like Pinterest-style organized! All my stuff is in glass containers. I put together a shelf of kid-friendly snacks my kids can access whenever they want.

Then, I moved on to my fridge. Threw out anything that was old, questionable, unhealthy. Again, put together a bin of healthy snacks for my kiddos.

Moved on to my cabinets. I now have a whole box of yard sale stuff, and a big old sense of calm. We are going to have the yard sale to beat all yard sales in the Spring. Between closing the daycare, being done having children, and cleaning all my stored away junk, we could furnish a small family completely!

My husband and I sat down and came up with a strict but realistic budget. We will have our debt paid off completely in two years (aside from the mortgage). I will have to stop my compulsive shopping and party planning, but I can do that.

We then designed our garden that we intend to actually build this year. And we will really build it this year.

I then went through my boys' bureaus and pacakaged up anything outgrown for my nephew. Ahhhh, it feels good!

I have always had a little dream of what my homelife should/would be like. I have most everything I want ~ great kids, amazing husband, beautiful home and a nice community. So now, it is time to move on to the next step and take care of the nitty-gritty wish list. And I am doing it!

Monday, I am getting this fat, steroid-puffy butt on my elliptical. And I am going to try and cook and entire week of meals without any prepared anything (I should have done this one a long time ago).

It is AMAZING what a week off and a day of truly motivated thinking can do for you. I had a few days this week of sitting around in my pajamas and reading, and today, I was ready to go.

Excuse the go-me rant ~~~~ I just was feeling happy, and knew that this was the place to share and not be judged for it. I hope you all have a great night!!!!!

Pinterest can get you going if you log off and do the stuff you pinned, LOL. I use it all the time and get a ton of affordable ideas.

Can you bottle some of that enthusiasm and ship it my way?

I sure could use some this week.

That's great! I hope to do what you've done this spring too! I find I get frustrated looking at junk sitting here and there around the house, especially when it's full of kids and I just keep pushing things around to make the space we need. It really does make the job harder. We have a community garage sale coming up and I plan to have lots of stuff!!

Good for you and your new found calm!!

Great job! I did the glass jars for everything a few years back. I love it!
This weekend I told myself I was going to tackle my fridge. I also need to drag my butt down to the basement storage/dump what you have no idea what to do with area. The Diabetes ass. is coming the first week of March to pick up donations and I hope to have tons.

I would like to give you directions to my house

Just a quick question... do you clean out your kids dresser with them home?
I have tried to do it with my daughter here and every single shirt/dress/ sock is her favorite or she wants to save it for her children.. (she is 9)
I want to give them to the daycare parents but she freaks!!!

See if she will let you take photos of the clothes for her instead so she can remember them while some other little girl gets to wear them.

OK that's good advise! Today she tried wearing a shirt to school that was 3 sizes too small

I have two boys, and they could care less about clothes! My older one (he is 5) just won't let me match him with his little brother anymore. Otherwise, no stress from them.

I have to say, it is great to have a nice organized kitchen! Today has seemed easier...of course, that is probably because my daycare isn't open this week.
