I've gotten used to the insane craigslist people. I've had great results from Care.com, but everyone is in their first trimester. Yesterday I had a "lovely" conversation with a woman from Care. My ad + my website both clearly state that I am only accepting babies up until 12 months. She very nicely asked me if I would consider taking her 15 month old. She seemed nice enough so I agreed to a phone interview with her. We talked for more than 30 min and I was actually feeling hopeful about this one. Then out of nowhere she announces that her baby is actually 2 1/2 but I "had to take him because there were older kids on my website"..AND she couldn't afford to pay me until she gets her first paycheck a couple of weeks after he starts. 
I was pissed at this point and remained professional and told her that I was sorry but she wasn't a fit for my program. Then she went off and starts screaming at me about being a racist! I don't even know what race this lunatic is!
Then I lost my temper and told her that I have a black baby, a white baby and a Spanish baby, so unless she is oriental, I've got all my basis covered. Now I'm embarrassed that I allowed myself to lose my temper instead of remaining professional.

She sounds desperate. Which means she's likely had issues keeping childcare. Which means her child could be horrible or SHE is horrible. I think you dodged a bullet with this one.

People are crazy!!! I had communicated with someone just via messaging on care and she went off on me for only being open until 5pm because the website says 6pm (I think you have to check off from 3-6pm so if I didn't check it then it would have looked like I closed at 3pm). She went on to tell me that's discrimination - I said, yes, I descriminate against staying open later, LOL!
