Oh my, first time. DARNIT!!!!!!

dcb, almost 2 yo, got his pinky finger pinched, and he yanked it out right away, (wasn't even crying at this point). Nail was ripped right off! poor little guy.

I bandaged his hand, and then put a sock over his arm and a sweater on top just so he wouldn't keep pulling off the bandages.

He was in happy spirits, didn't seem much affected by it. Informed mom of what had happened, and we've been in touch several times since. I just feel awful!

Oh my gosh! That's not your fault though. It happens Poor little guy.
I have had two major/minor accicents here. Both times I just wanted to cry and crawl under a rock I felt so bad it happened on my clock (or at all for that matter). Both times, the parent's were sooooo nice about it and one of the times I got the sweetest little card from a family that reassured me that they didn't blame me and really loved me as a Provider. Meant the WORLD to me.

I picked up my dcg, 3, yesterday, and accidently drove my thumbnail into her little armpit (we were messing around). She said she was fine, but my thumb hurt! I wanted to check (she had a shirt and sweatshirt on), but she ran off to play.

I forgot about it, but called mom on their way home. Mom says Uhh...ya sure...I'm going to have to report you....TO ME"....lol mom is a SW who handles abused kids....

I guess she wasn't worried....

the mom was upset over the phone, no one wants to hear that their baby is hurt, regardless of how old.

but she kept saying it is not my fault, and if he was in pain he'd be crying still (which I know is very very true).

She said he is constantly sticking his fingers where they don't belong, like in door jams etc. My coffee table is a chest, and he will stand leaning against it and lifting the table up a bit. Literally 10 seconds before his finger got pinched in the toys, i had scooted him away from the table saying "you're going to pinch your finger". Maybe I should've left him alone and he wouldn't have gotten hurt on the toys. lol.

i searched and still havent' found the missing nail!

Ouch! Poor guy.

I use our first aid kit more for the adults in the house than for the kids

Oh, poor baby. It's so hard on us when they get hurt. I feel worse than they do.

well he came in today with no bandage on his finger. it looks good, but lint and stuff is sticking to it easily. so trying to keep his hands clean the best i can.

So glad to read that the family was understanding.
That would traumatize me much more than the child, as I'm sure it did you.
