I had a one year old out all last week sick. Very sick...he had a 105 temp at one point and mom had to go to emergency. Better this week...just a little bit of a cough...until he woke up from nap. 99.5 temperature. When do you ask parents to come pick up? Anything over a "normal" temp?

Do you have anything about illness in your contract? I will have it be "anything over 100F" will be considered a fever in my contract. He could have just gotten really warm from sleeping, too. I don't know how true this is, but I've always heard to wait 15 minutes after sleeping to take a temp.

I say 100F or over but I might call mom and just let her know

Temp are often a little higher after nap. I'd just keep an eye on him but also call a parent just to let him/her know.

Anything over 100 here too. I will usually take it twice about 20-30 minutes apart before I contact a parent.

anything over 100.3 here and I send home if they are acting ill. I always let parents know anything over 99

I always let parents know anything over 99 as well. At 100.4 OR acting sick, they go home. I have had parents argue this point, but that's why it's in my handbook!

100 or over is an automatic go home. If they are acting sick, even without a fever, they go home. I don't wait for the fever to be high enough before I send them.

100 and over goes home. 99.2 and up gets a heads up email or text to the parents that the child might be coming down with something
