Default How Do You Know Who Coat And Shoes Belongs To?

I have asked parents to label their child belongings.

But I have two parents will not do it. It is ok if they are in one shoes and I am able to reconized it but some kids have different shoes three out of five days and some girls have the same hat and same shoes.

Parents always say they forget to put their child name on or they are running late.

I am planning to stop asking and just do it myself

I write it in there myself. It is in my Parent Handbook that ALL of their child's belongings brought to school must have their name on them so they can be returned to the proper owner. I now own 4 zip-up hooded sweatshirts and 1 big coat because no one ever claimed them despite displaying them with a sign that said, "Who does this belong to?" I don't want a closet full of random clothing so now I write their initials on their tags (there are those flat tags on the tongues of the shoes, hanging tags in clothing, etc.).

I would probably do it myself as well. Or send them home with the wrong stuff by "accident". If the items were labeled there wouldn't be a mix up Maybe then the parents will get it

That'll save you a lot of trouble. Some battles I just choose not to engage in...

I would rather lose an occasional item then have someone write on my child's clothes or shoes. Writing on them even on the inside makes them worthless for handing down to other children or for resale value.

I do understand that putting your child name is hard to sell or hand fown.

But Staples depot does labels in different sizes 100 for $20. I have advice parents about this option or to buy a labrl machine

Sharpie! I actually bought a paint pen from Michaels to use on bottles and such, since even sharpie washes off after a day. I understand the hand me downs and resale issue, but the parents did agree to do this upon admission, so they really can't balk at her doing it herself when they didn't.

Then don't send them to daycare where there are other kids.

I understand as I made a lot of money reselling my children's gently used clothing, but that is really a lame reason for not wanting to label your child's clothing when the provider is requesting that you do so, so that she can help keep track of your child's belongings.

She is trying to make your life easier not harder.

I have it in my handbook as well that if items come to care not marked I will do so myself.

If parents don't agree to that, then don't sign on with me.

I am a child care provider not clothing tracker.
