Daycare and Taxes>Breaking Down Time Into Fractions In MMK
legomom922 03:40 PM 03-10-2011
Ok, I know 1 hr would be entered as 1 in MMK and 45 min would be .75, and 30 min would be .5, and 15 min would be .25..

BUT how do you break down other figures? Like how would you enter 10 minutes? 8 minutes? 5 minutes? 2 minutes? Or dont I have to be that technical?

Working at the law firm we had to account for each .10 of an hour so we marked down .10 for every 6 minutes we worked. I don't think you need to be that precise for recording your time spent working for home childcare though.

yes I see how that would work, but if 15 min = .25, if I use your system, 18 min would be .30 and 12 min would be .20 so I still dont see where the .25 comes in...I must be missing something... If I ever were to get audited, they may think there is a big differnce between doing something for 5 min vs me inputting 15. KWIM? Now I am more curious than ever to figure this out!

you are taking the number of minutes and dividing it by 60 (the number of minutes in an hour).

ex. 8 minutes/60 minutes = 0.133

In general, I wouldn't worry about recording 5 minutes or less of time. I'd wait until I worked a combination of 10 or 15 minutes before tracking it. Or else, track every minute on a calendar and then transfer time over to MM when it totals at least 15 minutes.

You can print off this chart and use it as your guide. All you need to do is take the total minutes worked, like 15 minutes for example, and divide it by the total number of minutes in an hour 60 minutes. If you worked 15 out of 60 minutes that would get you 15/60=.25

If you go over an hour it is still the same formula (minutes worked divided by total minutes in an hour) So, if you cleaned for 1 hour and 6 minutes that would be 66 minutes/60 minutes=1.1
