Suggestions Needed

[Breezy]

On how to help new DCG to adjust. She is 16 months old and I have never had one that has taken this long to warm up. She is very shy and cried during drop off of my other DCG because she was scared. She has been here 2 hours now and has not really played and has been on and off crying. I feel so bad for her My DS has been bringing her toys and giving her hugs but shes not having it lol.

I figured maybe I would lay her down for a nap to see if she is tired but so far shes just crying Poor baby. I bet it is so scary being in a new place.

Just remembered mom said she gave her milk before she falls asleep so trying that now and we will see if she falls asleep. Hopefully shes just tired and will warm up more when she wakes up.

Aw, sorry it's been a rough morning, but give her a few days. Routine, reassurance, and time will be the best cures. Remember that she doesn't know you or anyone else, it's a new place, she doesn't know *for sure* that she'll be fed and warm and taken care of. She'll be out of sorts until she sees that these things all happen regularly

Thank you! Thats what I needed to hear-that its normal and not me! She is asleep now I believe. I will check on her as soon as DCG is done with this bottle. Which is a good step that she is comfortable enough to fall asleep! Ive been giving her lots of hugs and kisses. And singing her lots of silly songs.

I have found that 2 weeks tends to be the norm for most children to fully warm up. After 2 weeks, they tend to know that Mom/Dad will be back in the evening to pick them up and they know the routine of the new place that they are at.

Some take a shorter amount of time and some take a longer amount of time, but it seems to generally be 2 weeks before everything is "settled" over here.

Many hugs to you. Give her lots of cuddles, hugs, and smiles as she adjusts. She'll come around!
