So one of the upset parent gave me the 2-week notice yesterday they said the reason was because they can't be missing work because of dcks being sick all the time. Dcm also told me she found an unlicensed (friend) that would do it for less money and won't charge sick days. Well I told her I was sorry but there is policies I must follow due to state regulations. She said she understands but they she was sorry blah blah....

Now I feel bad because after I termed that one psycho DCP it seems like I got nothing but bad vibes I haven't received one call and its almost a month, then I have this DCP giving notice this leaves me with one child.... Yes one child.

I started looking for PT work and today I have an interview for an elderly person for evenings and weekends. I think for now that will work but what am I going to do

I'm sorry, times can be rough. I waitress on the weekends. Some nights I make what I charge for a week's worth of childcare! Thereare good days and bad and it makes for a really long week. Plus side is that there are more good night's than bad, I get to talk to adults, and when I am having problems with a daycare family I don't feel desperate. Good luck. Try to stay positive!

I'm sorry you are having a stressful time right now. Unfortunately, the daycare business can be like that sometimes and is never consistent or guaranteed.

It is hard when times get tough and the calls aren't coming in.

Hang in there and hopefully, summer will bring you a fresh batch of interested callers who want to enroll with you!

I'll definitely be keeping you I my thoughts and sending good luck wishes your way

It's stressful when you don't have enough children in care to pay the bills. I hope things pick up for you soon!

I understand how frustrating it must really be- your city is really expensive (even for CA).

My mom just got hired at a catering company around your area (pretty much hired on the spot). It pays $12/hour. She is working this Saturday for 16 hours and you can pick the times and days you are available. She is still looking into getting another side job during the day and doing this on nights and weekends. She says they are still looking to hire more people, some of their events are further away but most of them seem to be around Stanford. Also a nice way to make small talk with some of the event attenders, she said that sometimes if the people at the event like you they may offer you a job with their company; could also be a nice way to casually promote your services- word of mouth. Just a thought

I'm sorry. I'll be down to one child the last part of the summer, but I've got some new ones lined up for fall.

Where do you advertise? Now could be a good time to snag last-minute summer children, or to start enrolling for fall.

Thank you blackcat, yes I think my first year I experienced having to struggle with parents than with the children it's crazy. I just got off the phone with my niece and told me that my last DCP I have (her roommate) said she was going to give her two week notice at work. I was oh no! I will be down to 0000 kids.

I'm advertising for a new summer program that I would like to offer and will be sending flyers with my daughter. So lets see how it goes.
