DCM dropped off DCB2 who she, herself, says has a "benedryl hangover" from last night and was only coughing this morning cause of drainage due to allergies that he deals with at this time "every year" (He's 2 - he hasn't had the opportunity to experience this time of year many times 
). DCB2 is still coughing and nearly passed out on my couch 30 minutes after being dropped off. But of course it's just "allergies".

Those "allergies" turned out to be RSV for one of my DCK's (he DOES have allergies, but they don't cause the constant cough and snot pouring from his nose). I'd have a doctor take a look at those allergies.

I currently have 4 misserable little kiddos in a similar situation but I don't discount the allergies. I would agree that in this time of being cooped up with closed windows and furnace vents with increasing amounts of dust and dead skin cells and such plus rising pollon Do nts plus a long winter these little bodies areworn out just from fighting off things in their environment, even in the cleanest of homes. I went through 2 boxes of tissues yesterday not counting the one the 2 year old used up to do his nose "me do" and today will beno different. Sinuses are draining into thoats as well so we have deep coughs and areall generally miserable. I am hoping someone will bring me coffee to get through the day and then when everyone is napping everything will get sprayrd down and again after they are gone for the day.

He's up and moving around and the coughing has lessened, which would indicate the coughing was a result of drainage - so that's good. I'm just not up for caring for a constantly coughing-until-he-nearly-pukes kiddo all day. That is definitely not something he should be in a group environment doing, for his own sake as well as for others.

I have had so many "allergies" that I know are cop outs that I now require a doctors note stating that the child does indeed have allergies, for each instance. A dr note in April does not hold water 3 months later. This is how we end up with kids who ONLY get allergies, they never actually get sick. Once the parents catch on to the allergy excuse it becomes the norm. Not anymore, not here!
Also, for every instance of allergies I need to know what the parents are doing to eases the symptoms since a child with allergies is just as miserable as a child with a cold.
Most of my kids with "allergies" have "No known allergies" on their dr forms
Parents will say "oh, well I have allergies and they are acting up so he must have them too". No, not the case, and allergies are not contagious, so how did the allergies spread through the daycare?

It seems anymore that people can't admit their kid has a cold. It's always "allergies" or "teething."

Exactly this! I'm not sure why parents will not admit that their child is capable of getting sick. It's always teething or allergies. Kids get sick. No matter what you do, not matter how good or bad of a parent you are, your kid will get sick. I guess they just don't want to interrupt their job or me time to bother with a sick kid, so they convince themselves it's only teething or allergies.It seems anymore that people can't admit their kid has a cold. I have one who is teething and has allergies! I had to roll my eyes (in my mind of course) because this is the standard story But...
I must admit that I think that this time it may be true. Dcb is teething and has a runny nose and eyes (the eyes aren't red at all) so I think it is the truth. I was too quick to judge

Yeah that happened here too. One DCB was suffering from "allergies" that evolved into a fever and cold/cough and the next week my DS had the same symptoms and a high fever!!

The coughing did cease for majority of the morning & then started back up again when he laid down for nap. After about an hour of coughing I tried to get ahold of DCM with no luck, and now he's sleeping. He goes home for the day in 40 minutes so it's kind of pointless for her to respond now - although she has not, yet.
