So I bought a used little playhouse for the kids inside my house since we don't have backyards on this military post. Well first day I had it set up there was no smell and it looked super clean well second day I smell this musty STANK that smells to me like cat spray. (It may just be my overactive preggo nose bc DH cant smell a thing) I have sprayed it with bleach spray but the smell just keeps coming back. Any cleaning tips you guys have? My daughter loves this thing id hate to get rid of it.

Odoban!!!!! It is amazing! Was it ever outside before? There could be some standing water inside the playhouse causing a gross smell. Even just a little brings a nasty smell.

Is it one of those plastic Step 2 or Little Tike houses?

Those seem to take on any type of liquid and pools in the bottom corners. My DH had to drill drain holes in the bottom of all the Little Tike houses and climbers I had so the water/moisture didn't pool inside and get moldy.

Otherwise, I'd go with the Odoban and/or some sort of odor eliminator in it. Anything else just covers the smell. You have to neutralize it.

The drilled holes help a lot, we did this to ours as well. I agree, most things just cover up the smell. You need to banish it! And that's a difficult task.

yup odoban and a good scrubbing. Esp. in the holes. My cat (before he died) was peeing everywhere. Well he was peeing on the house too, esp where the toy door is. Well there's a hole there and thats where it was sitting and pooling. So I odobanned it to death and really rinsed it. Smell is gone.

bring it outside, drill holes and scrub it. Cleaners bother me (chemicals and smells), so I would use vinegar and baking soda and give it a good wipe down afterwards.

Definitely drill the holes.
I actually used vinegar. It smells when you're cleaning but goes away when it dries. I know exactly the smell your talking about - it's the plastic cat pee/peaches smell.

I have odoban and it didn't cross my mind to use it. Might even be better than vinegar.

I might have to order the odoban online bc we are in Germany they don't have that here. They don't have most things lol. Ill try the vinegar and drain holes first. This smell has just GOT to go.

Here is a good home remedy for odor eliminator...especially for pet urine

http://www.housecleaningcentral.com/...r-removal.html

Homemade Cleaning and Deodorizing Solution:

Combine the water and vinegar solution mixed in a bowl
•1 cup water
•1 cup vinegar

To Neutralize and Deodorize:
•1/4 to 1/2 cup baking soda

To Lift Any Remaining Set-in Stain:
•1/4 to 1/2 cup household strength (3%) hydrogen peroxide

I know you aren't blotting anything up from the carpet but the recipe might still work to eliminate the smell.

The only thing I have had get rid of cat urine smell is vinegar. The odor is bacteria that feeds off of the urine. Vinegar with kill the bacteria. I'm not sure how well it works on plastic, but I think it would help. You might have to re-apply as time goes on. That stuff is persistent!

All of the step2 toys including a picnic table, kids table hexagon shape, and riding toy tractor all smell like they have bad, bad, bad body odor. Apparently the sun is doing it. The plastic, as it gets sun bleached, emits a horrible stench that smells like a football locker room. It really smells like bad B.O.
I threw the stuff out.

I had a freezer get unplugged and didn’t know it had omg the stench was the most awful thing in this world. Only thing that got rid of it was baking soda and let to sit there and then washed out with bleach. I would prolly also let the bleach sit as well but the soda I let sit for 2 days lol I know about the Preggo nose sometimes I almost lose it changing diapers
