Daycare Center and Family Home Forum>Stupidest Cancelled Interview Excuse Ever!
daycarediva 10:29 AM 08-01-2013
Had a great phone interview with a great family, set up an in person interview tonight. Mom was so excited and just knew it was going to be a great fit, etc.

Today, Mom sends me a super vague email cancelling the interview tonight. I didn't reply back, really didn't know what to say.

Couple of hours later I get a photo text of a facebook screenshot from my current dcm. Apparantly she is an acquaintance/hs classmate of the interview Mom. Interview Mom apparently internet stalked me, found my photo (me with my group of kids, very PC!) and linked my BUSINESS PHOTO AND another photo of me at a training that I was tagged in by another provider and said on her personal facebook that she would NEVER allow her husband around me, so she wasn't bringing her kid here! asking if other people would bring their children to a 'pretty babysitter' and made references to some baby sitting/escort movie (???)

What kind of insecure, crazy person is this? I feel like I dodged a bullet, but I also want to do something snarky in the email reply to her. I was considering adding the photo she posted as an attachment.

Oh my gosh!!! She put your photos on her personal facebook page and then asked people if they would send their kids to you or someone who was pretty like you?

I feel like that is a major, major, major invasion of privacy, and it is by far extremely creepy.

I would report the photo to facebook so that it is taken down.

I am honestly speechless for you. Wow.

That is horrifying.

I gotta say, I'd call her on it.

She has some MAJOR issues. So glad she made the decision easy for you to not have to deal with her.

I would do a reply like this:

Dear lady,

I'm sorry we were unable to interview. I hope you have good luck finding an ugly daycare provider. In the future, please do not take pictures that belong to me and post them in public places, out of my control.

Thank you.

ETA: Ok, I wouldn't really say this, because I don't like confrontation. But I feel like this lady warrants SOME type of response. And wouldn't it be funny to see her face when she reads that

definitely dodged a bullet.

can you imagine never letting your husband around attractive people? that is just sad.

Holy wow.

I guess I'd probably just leave it alone, though it would irritate me. As long as she didn't slander you and only accused you of being pretty. ha.

Current (and strikingly beautiful dcm that I let in my home 2x a day and who chats with my husband ) reported the photos to facebook, since I had NO IDEA how to do such a thing and defended me on the status about losing an amazing provider because her child loves it here, for being petty.

My first thought was that I feel sorry for her, I'm not mad (shocked, for sure). But she must have a terrible relationship with her husband to trust him so little.

Add this to the list of DUMB A** CRAP I have heard from doing daycare!

Also, I'm annoyed that she called me a BABYSITTER. I need a tshirt that says "NOT A BABYSITTER"

I think I will say something in the email, I will be polite about it but I want her to be aware that I'm aware.

Some laughed at it, pretty sure they thought it was a joke. Some agreed with her and some called her immature. Definite mixed response. My dcm is going to update me later and show me it all on her phone.

seriously.....I had a family not sign up with me before for this reason..

The DCP were not married, only engaged. They came with the child for an interview, everything went great. Two days later I called to follow up. DCM straight out told me that her and the Fiance have major trust issues and she knows that it would not work out because on the drive home the Fiance said wow the DCP is really pretty....

At first I thought it was a joke. BUT then she started spilling the beans about a few of their issues. I thanked her for her time and just said good luck. It didn't end there.....OMG it was such a nightmare....thank god they never started at my DC....

People can be soooo childish. I am glad that you found it our before hand.

I had one other mom take her children out. My own stupid husband posted a pic of me from a fitness comp. that I was in, yes bathing suit one on his fitness website. The same website I asked him not to put any pics of me on. Well the DCD of these kids was a huge cross fit guy too and found me on there. The DCM caught wind of the pic on the site....All of a sudden, only mom was coming to pick up and drop off......She then came one day and said oh it's not working out, we can't get here by the pick up time, so we are leaving........3 months later my husband and DCD run into each other and DCD says....Hey man I am really sorry about what happened, no hard feelings....My husband was not sure what he was talking about and so the DCD told him that the wife was not comfortable with him coming to the house anymore after he commented on my nice competition photo....

I was sooooo mad at my husband. I have one pic of me online and it's on my daycare website.........I do not allow my family or friends to post pics of me at all.

Like someone else said, don't feel bad for being pretty....some people just never grow up........

If it isn't removed by tonight I am sending a cease and desist letter. I was able to google, too! Have her home address, pinterest, facebook page (private), and instagram!

I emailed her, asked her kindly to remove my photos, and wished her the best of luck in her search for childcare with a link to CCR&R.

That is really, really childish.

I would definitely confront her and demand that she take my picture off of her facebook page. Something like this:

Dear insecure Mom,

I'm very sorry to hear that you are not comfortable using me as your childcare provider. However, I must insist that you remove my personal photograph from your facebook page. That is an invasion of my privacy and I do not consent to your use of my picture under any circumstances. I hope you find what you are looking for in a child care provider.

Thanks

Okay, a really, crazy thought process there. Nutty enough if she kept it to herself. Take it one step crazier by stalking the Internet for a photo of you and then REALLLLLy crazy to advertise over the Internet how crazy she must be by posting it on fb.

WOW!!!

When I was a nanny the mom would go out of town for work a lot. EVERY time she would ask me if I could be trusted around her husband..EVERY freaking time. Finally, after about a year of working for them I told her no, I would probably jump his bones the moment she left. She knew me very well by then and laughed. However, she still continued to ask. I just pacified her and reassured her.

I would say your better off without her kids.

Yeah, I saw that movie. But it was about high school girls who where babysitters, NOT family child care providers. And at the end the head babysitter/Madame kinda got what she deserved in the end (one of her 'girls' had her dad as a client).

If that was on FB or a public website I would contact the people and say she is slandering you and your business. But make sure that she doesn't just un tag you but the picture is completely gone too, and let them know if she does it again you want her account deleted or you will take legal action against the website (if possible). If possible get a restraining order against her because this chick is immature, possibly crazy and dangerous. And she must be very insecure in not only her looks but her marriage if she thinks that

There was times when I was a regular sitter/nanny for a family and the dad was home when I would watch the kids. He's a college professor, so he has lots of papers to grade (he would actually complain about the paper would and said he was considering another career). Nothing ever happened and the mom never asked questions or never acted jealous or anything (at least not in front of me). I think the more secure you are in your relationship the less you doubt your partners fidelity.

... Or it could just mean she thought I was ugly?

I'd say "Well it's a great thing we didn't actually meet then, as I am way better looking IN PERSON!" LOL (not really but it'd be tempting!)

I'd really say something like: "Well, I'm sorry you feel that my looks should have any bearing on how I take care of your child, and I'm sorry that you trust your husband so little that you think my looks have any bearing on how he will behave in a business arrangement. It is obvious that you have some insecurities in your marriage I suggest you work out with him before taking your child ANYWHERE since I'm sure you won't want to be going to work when you need to use that time for snooping on him and everyone he knows. Obviously this is a huge issue for you and no offense, but I am offended that you think your dcp is out to sleep with your husband. What makes you think *I* would even be interested in something so ridiculous?! You may not give HIM credit, but sheyatttt, give the person you would trust your child's LIFE with some credit here!'

I hope I never see them out, I wouldn't recognize the dcd and have only seen the Mom from photos.

My picture is down, my dcm double checked this morning. Now dcm calls me a homewrecker. She's a trip.

FB Message:

Dear DCD,

So sorry things did not work out for your child's care. I wanted to let you know I have a strong divorced or divorcing parents contract if you should ever find yourself in need of care during your parenting time. Best of luck to you.

Sincerely,
Your almost Provider

You did dodge a bullet. I can't believe someone would actually say that to people, let alone document it on a public forum. Yes she is in a bad marriage. Be grateful she canceled, and I would have left it alone. As providers we never know how nutty people can get.

I would also remove photos of myself etc. from those sites. It's really not internet stalking when everyone is posting and putting pics up. Once you do that FB and anyone can get a hold of it and pass it around. I wish more people would understand how FB is NOT private.

Why so many debt collectors use these sites. They get all the info. they need from the client or their friends or relatives.
