so i am the only dummy who agreed to friday open lol...I think i might close and give a refund , last year no one brought the kids in , but it seems like no one wants to be home with their child if they have the option
Open today, but not Friday. The first year I was opened, I opened on Friday only to have parents ask to bring super early so they could go black Friday shopping. I decided that since most don't work, I won't either!

I am open today but it's incredibly slow, I only have my babies.
This is the first year I closed the Friday after Thanksgiving, it just wasn't worth being open for that one diehard family

Being Canadian - I have a question...
Is Thanksgiving a really big deal in the US? We celebrate Thanksgiving, but it doesn't seem to be such a major holiday here as it is in the US! I never close the day before or after a holiday (except Christmas) so I'm wondering if this is the norm in America??
I know Black Friday is also a big deal too - Canada has "boxing day" which is the day after Christmas and most stores have sales, etc similar to your Black Friday - but nothing like this after our Thanksgiving!

Yes, Thanksgiving is a big deal here! It is always on Thursday too.
Black Friday has become bigger and bigger in the last few years but unless you are a die hard shopper, it is NOT worth fighting the crowds just to save a buck. IMPO.

Yes, Thanksgiving is a huge, huge deal here. Big emvisis (sp) on family and friends. I don't think the "original" meaning is celebrated as much anymore. I think there are huge parades all over also.
Most places unless you are retail, is closed the next day. I guess having a Thursday off and then having to return back for one day isn't worth it. Alot and I mean alot of retailers just stay open on Thanksgiving anymore and I find that so sad. These workers I guess don't get to even spend holidays with their families because we think if we don't spend money every day of the year something is wrong. OK, I'll stop there before going any further as its a huge issue with me!

I am closed Thursday & Friday. Soooo happy I changed it this year! Last year I was open Friday and it was a mess. We hosted and the company didn't leave until after 10, then cleaning until 12 and then CRANKY kiddos the next day.

I was going to close Friday, but my drop in called and begged me to open Friday and Saturday. My regular dcm works the same place and they have to work Friday and Saturday, so I agreed. I don't really mind, we weren't going anywhere this weekend, and I can use the money!

I am opened today Wednesday since my DH is working. I don't feel the need to take it off.
I am closed Thursday and Friday, paid holidays both days.
Today I have all of the DCKs all day including the SAs and one extra SA (my 11yo nephew) since school is out today here so 8 kids total. It's amazing at how loud it gets when the SA's are here.
Our paid holiday is Thursday and Friday. We wanted the option to actually stay up late and enjoy Thanksgiving with our family.
Oh, and today we have 10 out of 12 children and two more are leaving right after nap is over. So, we'll have 7 children until 5:00 and 1 until 5:45.
