So after redirection fails, I make the 4 yr old sit by me so I can provide direct immediate attention.

He says " your mean!!" then he goes into a fit,

So,... Help?

I show no attention to the fit, but it's getting worse.

this. I have the same child.

He tries all manner of things, "you're mean, I don't love you, you're not coming to my birthday party, etc." lol

he's just testing...and angry.

he screams "you're stupid" to his mama.

He's just expressing his anger, and that's how it comes out. Ignore it.

I have a 20 mo that growls like a dog when she doesn't get her way. Wanna trade for a few days? (This is b/c I won't let her throw a fit and stomp her feet like she does at home

"I see that you are angry, but when you do not follow the daycare rules this is the consequence". Acknowledging his anger will hopefully calm him down.
