I have the opportunity to decorate a tree that will be seen by thousands of people. The tree will then be raffled off in a Chinese lottery. (people place their tickets at the tree they want to win.)
I'm looking for some decorating ideas, as well as freebies I can put on and under the tree that will let people know about my daycare. (and hopefully attract new clients!)
There is no cost to me for this free advertising... other than the cost of the tree and decorations.
Any ideas, ladies?
**I also need a name for the tree.
Edit: I will be running a play-based preschool type program ages 18 mos - 5 yrs.

Hmmm, can you use your name in the decorating of the tree? For instance, my daycare is Little Monkeys Daycare. So I would use monkeys and other jungle themed things..Maybe monkeys with Santa hats etc. Actually, thanks for mentioning this. Now, I know what our tree will look like.

Can you make some crayon or paint brush ornaments?

You can do like a Christmas tree from around the world kind of thing. Every child can make an ornament from a different country and on each ornament you can make a decorative little tag that reads something like "made with love from (your daycare name) and phone #

I have "play" in my name so I could get away with toys and whatnot.

I'm definitely thinking of doing "kid style" art for the ornaments.

I am not open until September so as of right now I don't have anyone enrolled other than 2 infants. (which I may or may not be keeping- long story but decided to change program after I interviewed infants) The tree will have my business name on it as well as a name of my tree theme for people to vote on. I'm guessing I could also add a card with all my information for people to see as one of the "ornaments".

What do you think of offering a free week of child care after a certain number of weeks of enrollment?
Any other ideas of freebies of this type that people would like? Or should I just go with gift cards for random places that parents would frequent?

Things you can put on the tree:
*Pictures of your daycare home/centers
*Alphabet/Number Stickers
*Pictures of you/your family/pets etc.
*Pictures of your play equipment or toys
*Pictures of different cartoon characters (to catch the kids' eye, maybe the *Characters could be playing games)
*Examples of projects the kids would be doing in your program
*Pictures of kids playing different games (can get from internet too)
*Ordainments with different pieces or your advertising information (name on one, phone number on another)
*Empty bulbs with pictures and/or business cards
*Any logo or slogans you have (maybe a ball bouncing or teddy bears for your logo)
Names for tree:
*The Playing Tree
*The Fun Tree
*The Tree of Fun
*The Tree of Joy
*The Tree of Play
*The Play and Grow Tree
*'árbole de Jugar más' (hoo-gar Mas). In Spanish 'Jugar' means 'to play' and 'Más' means 'more', and árbole means tree- so it would mean the "play more tree" (might need to doube-check translation).

How about a toy tree like others have said with homemade ornaments and little wooden children ornaments and you can call it "everything grows better with love".
