I lay down the under 2's at 8:30 (after all arrivals) for about an hour and 15 minutes. We do circle, quick free play, potty break, wash up. The bigger kids sit down for snack and I wake up the littles. Quick diaper changes and we go outside. After lunch, everyone naps in the afternoon.

It has been my experience that most 18 month olds transition to a one nap schedule fairly easily. They may be tired at first but get used to it pretty soon. I usually lay all my kids down at 1:00. They sleep 1:00-3:00. (a lot of times 3:30). Maybe lay them down for an even shorter nap in the am and then down for there pm nap a bit earlier?

We have quiet time from 1 to 3. I'd say at least once a week we eat lunch early 11:30 instead of 12 and naptime starts by 12:30p. Even then, they all nap until 3 if it stays quiet enough. (When the hubby is home, his dog is home and she's rather a LOUD yapper )

I usually transition the littles to this afternoon only napping schedule NLT 15 months.

I still lay down 18 months, down for an am nap. All my toddlers under the age of 2 are up between 5:30-6:00. They are very tired at around 9:00, I lay them down for about about an hr and 1/2. They also lay down around 1:00-3:30 for an afternoon nap. I had one Mom tell me the other day, that she now only give her 20 month old and am nap- I asked her what time do you lay him down- about 10:30-11:00, she told me!! Then he sleeps for 3-3 1/2 hrs. I told her those times would never work in a daycare setting. UGHH!!!! She said he has trouble around 10:30, cannot go any longer without an am nap

DD was taking two 1.5 hour naps a day and sleeping 7:30pm - 7/7:30am everyday. Last weekend she only took one nap, so I kept her on that this week and she has been crabby by 4:30 (dcp pick up time). I do not want to put her to bed earlier because dh works later and that is the only time he gets with her.

Today she was up at 6:10, unusual for her. With 1 nap she is only sleeping 1.5 hours, max.

Do you think she is overly-tired and thats why she isnt sleeping as much for her one nap? Maybe thats why she got up early?

She just turned 17 mos. Do you think I should continue with the one nap at 1:00pm and she will adjust soon??? Shes a real crab when shes tired.

My 19 month old started dropping his AM nap when he first started coming here at 15 months. Now, he never naps in the morning, but I still put him in his pnp for about 30 minutes for a "rest". I give him books to look at, some quiet puzzle toys, a stuffed animal, and then just let him sit and chat to himself for a while. This gives me a chance to get the babies down for their naps, and get a quick breather before he is up and racing around. Not sure how much longer it will last though - he's usually pretty ready to play by the time I go in after 30 minutes!

So the schedule is 8:30 - 9:00, Morning rest. Afternoon nap is 1 - 3, and he usually falls asleep pretty soon after 1, I have to wake him up at 3.

Hope that helps!

My little guys that age all get up around 6 or so. We have lunch at 11:30, then nap from 12-3 or even 3:30 sometimes.

I have 2 under 2. One DCG and my own DD.

The DCG gets here at 545 so she goes straight back down and gets up around 730 8. My DD gets up at the same time and we do breakfast.

Morning routine usually consits of circle time, a group activity, and or free play. Around 1015 1030 we go out to play. They get a good hour to play outside and get nice and tired. We come in and eat around 1130/1145. Then they all go down around 1200/1215. Generally they both sleep til 3 or 330. (Sometimes even 4:00) We have snack around 330/345 and go back outside. My DCG mom says she is zonked and goes right to bed around 730. My DD goes to bed at 7.

In my experience, the outdoor time is critical. My 18-24 monthers try non stop to keep up with the older ones so they are pretty tuckered out.

I agree 100% with outdoor time!!!

I put dd down at 12:45 after lunch for her nap. She woke up 1 hour later screaming, with her eyes closed. She is exhausted and needs to sleep. I went in, told her naptime wasnt over yet, and left. She is still screaming.

It is killing me but I dont know what to do. All I want to do is get her out of bed and cuddle her on the couch, but I cant with the other daycare kids because I know that as soon as I get settled I will have to get up and do something. Just not having a good day today.
