Daycare and Taxes>Opening a Daycare In MA In a Rental Home
creativekids2012 03:25 PM 04-11-2012
I've tried searching the web & have found no answers. Can I open a family daycare in Massachusetts If I live in a rental home? Can the landlord tell me that I'm not allowed to open one?

One other question: Do I need to have a fenced in yard?

Thank you so much!

Check in with Massachusetts EEC and they will have you attend a Potential Provider's Meeting - they run pretty regularly and cover all of the answers to your questions. You have to attend one if you are planning to get licensed, and if after the meeting you decide you're not interested, you've only lost an hour or two of your life.

You can run a daycare in a rental home, with your landlord's approval. You don't necessarily have to have a fenced yard, but you can be close to a whole list of hazards - busy street, railroad tracks, a body of water, etc.

Good luck!
