Day 8- Lemons.
POUNDING THINGS to see what color comes out!? I had DS (7) try this at nap. HORRIBLE failure. We tried with a paper thin white sheet and he was beating the daylights out of it random things around the yard with a rubber mallet and nothing. Roses, a few mums, leaves, etc. They looked beat up but no actual color went onto the sheet.
Any ideas on a color and/or lemon related activity we could replace it with?

sorry not trying to sound rude....BUT I hate MGT and boy is it expensive....Most of the crafts are very cookie cutter and I ended up having to do most of them for the kids because they were too hard for them to do....much like you are experiencing now..
why not just get plastic baggies of paint and let the kids smash the baggies of paint. Do it outside on a table. Or maybe you can add food coloring to the slices of the lemon??
there is soooooo much free stuff on the internet that I just find a theme I like and then look for related projects on line. here is one of my favorites...

Willow, I know you weren't asking me personally but I do MGT and absolutely love it. Alot of times I turn the lesson into something totally different, add to it, take away, make it my own. My preschoolers love, love, love it and I love that unless I absolutely want to add to it, it comes with everything. My kids love all the games, cd's, calendars, crafts, etc.

I love MGT! It comes with everything, and the kids have all been able to manage the crafts with minimal assistance from me. It is worth the money, imo!
Thanks for the ideas! I tossed some lemons in gel food coloring and water in different colors and we will smash those!
Plus, they're still edible.

I like MGT, can't say I love it yet but it's only been a couple of months. I like that everything is ready to go and it saves me so much time. I do have to buy the book every month that gears the activities towards my young 2 year olds so I wish they would just make a kit for 2's. The nice thing is that I always order one extra and laminate everything so I will be able to re-create most of the activities and never have to buy it again after this year. Then I can fine tune it to the ages I have.

I liked mgt too. But it cost a million dollars to ship it to canada so I stopped getting it.
