Postponing Halloween cause of rain is like postponing Christmas cause of snow. I say "If you want some candy, then suck it up buttercup & bring an umbrella!"

This is how I feel! Halloween has no business invading November... that's thanksgiving's territory.

Yeah seriously. be flexible people. Or dress for the weather! I always choose costumes to be able to have layers put under them. It's like, logic.

My community just bumped up the time, 5:30 to 7 instead of 6-8.

Of course, I'm scrambling to manage that. I'm texting parents for early pick ups around 5 so I can get my kids ready and we can get to my sister's house (we ToT in her neighborhood).

Our community & several surrounding ones moved trick or treat to Saturday. It is supposed to be VERY windy (30-40 mph) today but really the temps are quite mild for Oct - 60 something here. It wouldn't bother me to have T or T tonight.

Ours is always the 31st. Rain or not. Although I suppose if we had some natural disaster like a hurricane there would be something done. Instead we just do what everyone else does and pray for no rain and to not freeze. Right now it is almost 70 and cloudy. The rain is supposed to hold off until after midnight so we should be in the clear.

Everybody here is doing trunk or treat things now. Hardly any kids do trick or treating like we did back in the 80's

(I have nothing against truck or treat things.)

There is an assisted living place that does trick or treat at the residents' doors. The residents love it & it's indoors so we are going to that tonight. We did trunk or treat at our church's fall festival this past Sunday. We do regular trick or treat too but ours was just postponed until Sat.

Our county postponed trick or treat due to a little rain. We are teaching children the wrong message with that one if you ask me.

I think a lot of the postponing (at least around here in MI) is due to the fact that there are going to be very high winds, a lot of rain, and it's a safety/visibility factor. Still stinks, but I can kind of see the reasoning behind it.

Where abouts in MI are you? I'm on the SW side of the mitten. Lots of rain but not much wind so far. I think TorT is still on here tonight. Just curious

It is always the Saturday before Halloween here. There was a year that was really yucky and I asked my kids which they would rather do, go out trick or treating or I would buy them each a bag of their favorite candy and we would watch a movie. They picked the candy! (of course I didn't allow them to eat it all that night.. it was spaced out just like Halloween candy was)

SE side ... we've have non stop rain and strong gusts of wind that have been blowing our toys all across the deck all day. TorT is still on here, too ... but I know a lot of other areas are post-poning. Just checked the radar and it looks like there will be a clearing for here around 7 ... keeping my fingers crossed!

I'm personally canceling because I was up too late watching the Red Sox..and I am tired!

Just kidding! If its dangerous to be out then I say cancel. No need to risk lives for candy.

I remember trick or treating in the blizzard/ice storm of 1991-I was 12. That was crazy. I think we stayed out for 3 hours walking around. 3 pairs of long johns, 2 pairs of sweat pants, 2 sweatshirts, our winter coats and snowpants, 3 pairs of thick socks, and the traction things that you slip on the bottom of your boots. Oh, and a face mask with a scarf over it. Everyone looked like mummys walking around. I'm glad it hasn't done that since. It was memorable, but not a memory I want every year.

It was totally cancelled here one year. We had a hurricane a week earlier. We were without electric for a week. There were no street lights and although most debris and branches had been cleaned up there was still some so it was too hazardous with no lights to see the debris. Weird thing was that later that evening the lights came on for the first time in a week.

Saturday seems like kind of a good idea. Then DCP will have to deal with the "day after" candy/staying up late day! Kind of loving that thought!

We trick-or-treated in the rain. We didn't even use an umbrella.

You gotta be in Minnesota! My older son still talks about that Halloween. My boys were 5 & 3 and I was pregnant with my daughter and we only went to a few houses. But the older kids in the neighborhood sure had fun

our halloween was cancelled last year thanks to Hurricane Sandy. We had hurricane and then snow storm a few days later - it was a mess with downed wires, etc. but for a little rain that is really strange!

Yes! It definitely was fun-for the kids anyway, maybe not the parents. We probably should have used our ice skates to get around!
