Our state will allow us to have 10 on our own if you only care for 2 under the age of 2.
You can have a total of 8 on your own with 2 under 1, 2 under 2, 2 under 3, 2 under 4. You could move slots up age wise but not down.
I am currently running on the 8, and have an 8 month old, a 10 month old, 2 15 month olds, 2 2year olds and a 3 year old. In 9 years I have never run this way and all is can say is my state is insane for making this a ratio you can opearte on. I have been running these numbers for a few weeks now and it just isn't getting any easier. There is no time for activities, or fun, it is clean up, redirection, problem solving, clean up some more, oh and clean up some more. Right now they all have allergy's going on, so I am on constant nose patrol.
If anyone has ever had these ages and amounts, did you find anything that made your days run more smoothly? I have always gone with the 2 under 2 and never more than that, after I make it through this run with these guys, I will go back to my 2 under 2.
Hoping things get easier!!!

Well, you are really brave!!! We have those ages as well, but we always have two of us! We go outside and the 18, 18, 20, 24, and 26 month old ride toys as I sit on the blanket with a 3 and 7 month old. We have big kids too, but half of them start K this week so bye bye to decent conversations LOL
The best tip I want to share is remember "less is more" by how much you plan to accomplish per day and by how many toys you let them have. We have a step 2 slide we have inside and all three of the 1 year olds love it and love to drop all their toys down the slide. They can pretty much entertain themselves.

Love the slide idea. Where I have such a young group, I think I will get one to put inside. I usually have some older ones as well, but this year has just brought me a very young group. Thanks for the fun idea. I definately think I am going to have to pare things down a bit. To much for the little guys to drag out and dump.

Wow. here if we have 4 under 2 we cant have any more. If I have 3 under 2 then I can have 2 above. I can have 2 under and 5 over. 1 under and 7 over. Or I can have 8 above age 2.
I can see why you are flustered. I have an assistant so I can have 8 of any age. I had a huge load 2 years ago with 4 newborns, then 4 older kids. Now those newborns are age 2, and i have had their newborn siblings. So now I have only one under 1, two age 1, and 4 two year olds and one 4 year old. It really seems impossible with all the potty training and feeding if I were alone!

for the morning/afternoon nappers under 2's, I hold a tight schedule, naps same time every day, I do my activities/preschool/outside times during morning naps. Then lunch, play, then afternoon naps for all. No problems here. Set a schedule and stick with it. It can and does work.
