Two weeks ago, I used a personal day to get some dental work done. They didn't get it all done so I have to go back again this Thursday to finish. I will also be sedated again. I have hired my sister (my back up) for the WHOLE day, and I will be paying her by the hour. I gave all the families the option to eaither come, or to stay home and I would credit there account for the day. Well they all said they would be here, so that determined on how much per hour I will be paying my sister. It will cost me over $100.00 for the day. Which Im totally fine with. Well the family I am having the most problems with came in today (2 days before the apt) and informed me that her 2 kids won't be here and she wants to use the credit. Ok I asked everyone 2 weeks ago about this and told them I had to know by that Friday, and every one said they would be here so I planned accordingly. So this morning, 2 days before the apt, she decided to change her mind, I told her she wouldn't be getting a credit, and she would still owe for the day. Now the mom is pissed and having a fit. Am I in the wrong here? I lined up my back up, bought lunch for her kids aged 3 and 6 months so that included formula. Yes granted my sister will be here with other DCK's and my own but still. I wouldn't be paying my sister so much if she didn't need to have a second infant, and my sister doesn't have a job, and I can't go back and say "well I can only pay you this much now". Am I in the wrong here?

No, you are not. You asked for their schedules 2 weeks in advance, they provided them to you (saying they would ALL be in attendance that Friday and did NOT want the generous credit), the schedule of whether or not they would be attending was due long ago, and so that is that.
"Sue, I asked for everyone's schedules on Friday of April x. You gave your schedule saying the children would be in attendance and so I am paying a sub to be here in place of me. It is now your choice as to whether or not you bring your children to care that day but payment will still be due. Have a great day."

Remind DCM that you gave a deadline and at that time she said she would already be in attendance. Too late to change her mind now.
Show her your letter, text, e-mail or whatever you used to notify parents of the situation and what the due date for telling you was

You are not wrong .
You gave all the families the option and a deadline to respond by . Because dcm has changed her mind is not your fault .
I would remind her that she said her kids would be attending and you have already planned for them to be there and have spent $$ for her children .
This is why I have all parents sign a paper stating that if they request care for a day and cancel within 7 days they are still required to pay .

For me, all time reserved is paid regardless of attendance.
She reserved the day, she pays for the day

Thanks guys. Normally they pay regardless. But I only have 3 pto days and didn't want to waist them all this month so I figured if I worked with them It would save me from using one. Well lesson learned and never again! But on the plus side, I have been trying to find 2 kids to replace them with, and I have 1 and almost have the second kid so maybe this mom will get mad enough to not come back and then I won't have to term
