I have often thought (and come close to) enrolling in some formal classes...but then shy away from it for various reasons financial, time commitments to family, etc.

Sooo, for those of you who have taken some classes and those who are self-learners, what are some useful books on learning early child development and early learning?

I was looking on amazon...there are a lot of good looking books, but I wanted some recommendations first.
