One of my dcg's started kinder this year. Dcm asked if she could have dcg be shuttled to me once a week after school for ex to pick. How much would you charge for approx. 2 hours care? The family paid 120.00 a week for full time care.

I have several s/a and I charge $200 f/t and $20 or $10/hr for after school care. They take up a spot, so I have to factor that in. Also, I pick up from school as well, so feel I need to be compensated for gas and my time for this service.

If I was charging $25 f/t, then I would probably charge this family a min of $12.50/day and would most likely round it up to $70/week.

Since you aren't providing transportation, my vote would be $15.00 for that one day a week.

I have 1 DCG that I get off the bus 3 days a week. I charge $10.00 each day she is here. I have set days for her so, even if she doesn't come on one of those days, then I still get paid. Same goes for holidays. Now if she needs to come to me when they don't have school, then I charge her my daily rate. Hope that helps.

Assuming "fulltime" meant 50 hours/week, you were essentially charging $2.50 per hour. I would triple that to $7.50 per hour, and charge her $15 for the one day per week. You'll likely have to give her lunch if she's AM Kindergarten, or at least a snack if she's PM, so there's a few bucks right there. You'd really only be making about $10-12 profit. And I'm sure she can afford $15 per week!!

I might actually be tempted to float $20 and just see how she responds. Explain that the rate goes up exponentially when the hours go down. (Like buying a small tub of peanut butter at the grocery store, compared to box of 3 humongous tubs of it at Costco!)

Oh, just read that you said $120/wk for fulltime. I had $125 in mind. But still....

Wow! I would've said $2.75 per hour! But, that's because I know our local schools charge $3 per hour for the latchkey and that parents could always use that instead of me!

Thanks to all. I decided on 12.00 each day. I texted dcm, I haven't heard back. I don't offer after school care, but this little girl was my first and very special to me.
