Sent veggie straws for dcg today. I'm pretty sure they are not as healthy as they claim. I don't know if they grain free but they have dairy in them. Her no dairy, grain free, junk food free and only healthy food diet must only apply when she is with me. Her new contract is going home tomorrow and I'm putting a note in there that states she will have to participate on the food program or find other care. I know that sounds harsh but I feel like she is trying to micro manage what goes on here. Another example is last week I put dcg hair up out of her face with a small rubber band. It's always in her eyes and face. The next morning dcm wanted to know if I put that rubber band in her hair and I said yes, then she told me not to use them because they are to hard to take out. I told her she needed to find a way to keep her hair out of her eyes and away from her face so it doesn't get food in it at lunch. The next week she comes with a rubber band in her hair. I'm very frustrated can't you tell.

Veggie straws are not healthy and they are not grain free. I cannot eat them.
Maybe, just maybe, they were a rare treat for the child?

I can see them being a treat for the dck, but a dcp with any common sense wouldn't send them to the daycare provider they've been trying to convince to provide a modified diet, kwim? IMO, if this parent is sending grains with their child then it probably isn't the big priority dcm is trying to make it seem. I think you did good with the new contract. Hopefully she just goes with it.

We are grain free but every now and then we do have a little cheat meal. Maybe DCM was running late, couldn't get to the store for a better snack and threw those in the bag? We all know how working mothers are pressed for time, right?

OP, it sounds like you're getting really frustrated with this DCM for many reasons. Maybe it's too difficult for you to accommodate their needs and so maybe they would be better off finding care that fits them better. Not every provider meshes with every family. Lord knows I've had some families that just didn't work out for no other reason than they weren't the right fit for me and my program.

I am very frustrated with DCM and your right we are not meshing at all. Especially as dcg gets older. I'm done playing the game of dcm can do it but daycare can't.

I hear ya! I just don't understand parents that require special food for their kids (re: allergy or special diet) who expect DCPs to accommodate. Like BC said, they need to do the work to be sure their child can fit into GROUP care. What your DCM sounds like she needs is a nanny.

We have food allergies/grain free diets but the big difference is that I pack appropriate and safe foods for us wherever we go. Never would I expect even family gatherings to accommodate us. Your DCM sounds egotistical for expecting those around her to accommodate her needs.

DCM goes on and on about being grain free, dairy free and no junk food. Every time the other kids are having toast and fruit for breakfast she reminds me not to give it to dcg. Then she throws a comment in about remembering dcgs healthier way of eating. I had some Gerber puffs for the other baby and she rolled her eyes and said something about how they weren't good for the them. Then she sends veggie straws. I ignore most comments because DCM is ones of the Moms who goes by what ever google says is the right way?

My veggie straws are grain and dairy free. I buy organic ones and every ingredient on the list is ok enough that we serve them occasionally here. My kids (and DC kids) rarely eat anything out of a box but I'm ok with my brand of veggie straws.

Yeah, sounds like this mom really really wants to be "healthy" but she wants YOU to do it.

I totally understand her being in a rush and grabbing a quick snack that maybe wasn't the best choice, but like any specific parenting style....if it's that important to you (parent) then YOU (parent) have to be the one that is diligent about it. You can't slough it off onto the daycare.

This is the same scenario as babywearing and co-sleeping. The PARENT needs to do the work in order to make sure the child can adjust and thrive in GROUP care.

OP, the issue you are having is EXACLTY how mine started. I ended up terming after a year in care. It simply became too much for ME to manage and mom never seemed concerned about HER behaviors (forgetting food, sending "bad" foods etc..)

I just couldn't manage it anymore and said no.
