I can not seem to calculate my Iowa State quarterly income tax payments. Quickbooks is wonderful in that it calculated my Q1 Federal payment, but I can't figure out how to calculate my state payment. Can anyone help guide me to correct info?

If you did child care in 2014 or 2015, and your income for the first quarter of 2016 was about the same, use the amount you paid in quarterly estimated taxes in 2014 or 2015 as a guide for what to pay now.

I started daycare in August of 2015, and did not make enough last year to have to pay quarterly taxes. That it why I am lost.

Add the amount you earned from August - December to your 2014 tax return and see how much extra you would have to pay in state income taxes. Pay this amount.
