Thank you!!
Becasue of all of you I was ready with my response yesterday when my new family asked me if her child's physical therapist could come in today to do his therapy here.
"I'm sorry, I don't host therapy appointments. They are too disruptive to our day."
I've been a child care provider for over 20 years and I'm still learning from reading the posts on this forum.

Legally you have to let therapists visit your home when a child in your care needs services, you also cannot allow the child that needs therapy be separated from the group during the time that they are there. They need to be allowed to view the child within a group so that they can know how to better help the child. We've had therapists within our center and we have allowed them to come and work with the child that needs services unless it was during naptime which is between 12 and 2. The therapists have worked with all the children in a particular age group and the children have loved it.

Depends on your state rules on whether you are required to allow them into your home.
As far as I know, I am not required but it may be in other states.
I do know that I can't leave a therapist alone with a child with out doing a back ground check on them.

Here in Alabama, we were told that we have to allow them into our center as I stated in my post and that we cannot all ou w them to be separated from the group

Fortunately, there is nothing listed in my regs saying that I have to let therapists into my home.

I allow them, welcome them with open arms. I learn so much about how to better care for special needs children by observing them.
I do not have to allow it, but I'd lose half of my clients if I didn't. I have some kids that need therapy 5 days a week. They'd be forced to find other care. However, the 5 day a week kid....his behavioral therapist is here 4 hours a day, and acts as a paraeducator. She is in charge of him during that time, other than feeding and changing, and keeps him from hitting, biting, pulling hair etc.
