Does anyone have a laminator? I am thinking about getting one. I use contact paper but it has kind of lost its charm. I dont need one for lots of things, but it doesnt seem to expensive if I dont go nuts. $41 for the machine and $10 for 50 sheets.

I got mine at Walmart for about $25 and it works good! I love it. You could always do contact paper but it can be a pain.

try amazon for one; they often have them for super, super cheap.
I love mine, though I would use it more if I would stop procrastinating about buying more sheets for it... heh heh heh

But they are so worth it! Everything looks so shiny and pretty after getting laminated.

I know! I love it! I just keep not getting the stupid sheets...i suppose I'll add that to my "things to buy with the tax refund" list.
I bought the Scotch one on Amazon and I buy off brand sheets on Amazon for cheap that work great.

I refuse to feel sorry for someone who actually gets a refund!

Check out Sam's Club for the laminator sheets. I got a big box (maybe 100 or so, I can't remember) for around $20.

I did NOT expect one at all! And I expected it to be minimal at best. We were really, really, really surprised.

Well I am really really scared this year but I did pay quarterly so maybe it won't be bad.

I bought mine at Costco for $15-$20....it is the Purple Cow brand... I love it! I have used it laminate sheets from preschool workbooks - it saves so much paper!

I LOVE my laminator! I get refill sheets at Costco. It makes things last a lot longer, like bulletin board stuff, game pieces, etc.
sahm1225 03:53 PM 03-15-2013
What other things donyou use your laminator for? I was just using it for cool

I have a light board. I laminate color sheets and the kids trace them. I find them on the internet. I find ones that go along with whatever theme we are doing. I also laminate the kids names when they are first learning to write. They trace them on the light board.

I have been thinking of getting one too! Love this thread, would like to hear all the things people use it for! Can you use dry erase markers or crayons on it?
Springdaze 05:30 PM 03-15-2013
I got one! I will now laminate the world! I love it!
blandino 06:34 PM 03-15-2013
Read this thread and immediately bought the Scotch brand one on Amazon. I had never priced laminators, and just assumed they were pricier than they are. I am a happy lady. I was spending $12.00 a pack for those self laminating sheets, and I'm sure this will do so much better - for just a little more. Thanks again ladies !

Got mine on amazon during Christmas time for cheap (it was a lightning deal) and I LOVE it!!! So much better than contact paper

I've made some file folder games and laminated the pieces, let's see my menus that I rotate, my center signs, cubby tags that I make so I can reuse them if I want to, anything else I can make up an excuse for

This is so me. I laminate everything. If it's paper and something the children can reach or will touch I laminate it. Nothing makes me happier than when the red light turns green and I can begin earning the title of a crazy laminating Queen.
Plenty of things make me happier but in that moment the green light takes the cake and I'm tired and I work with goofy children. Oh goodness I need to go to bed.

One day I wanted to laminate my tape measure. Don't do that. It melts. At least my laminator survived, barely.
countrymom 06:00 AM 03-16-2013
placemats. We do them with the holidays and then the kids bring them home. Or book marks.

I LOVE my laminator. I don't buy name brand sheets though. I get them through a lamination company. I bought over 1k sheets for under $30. Had my laminator for 5 years and still haven't run out of sheets. I LOVE it.
Springdaze 04:06 PM 03-16-2013
1000 sheets! wow! howd ya do that?
countrymom 05:28 PM 03-16-2013
I went to sams club and bought some and its 200 for 20 dollars which is really cheap, esp. for us canadians. But where can I get 1000, omg the possiblities would be endless.

Yes, please let us know where you got this deal!
sahm1225 06:56 AM 03-17-2013
Yes please!! 1000 sheets and I would laminate everything!
Thanks for the ideas, I have a stack waiting to be laminated right now .
For the ones doing the placemats - did you have them color anything specific before you turned it into a placemat?
And ladies - keep the ideas coming! I'm inspired!!
Blackcat31 07:09 AM 03-17-2013
I bought my laminator from Harbor Freight. It was pretty inexpensive. I also buy the pouches there.
I laminate EVERYTHING too!
The most recent lamination done was Play-doh mats. I have these pages that have things on them such as a birthday cake and it asks the kids to add candles (made from Play-doh) or one that is a garden scene and it asks the kids to plant vegetables on it using Play-doh.
I laminated them so they are continually reusable and any Play-doh residue just wipes clean.
I have the mats saved on a PDF file for easy printing if anyone is interested. They are 8.5x11 size.

I got mine at Aldi for $10.00!!
It's for home use - the Daycare has a similar one. When I see a bargain like that I jump on it.
I think Aldi has them again for $20.00 now.

Yep....but the files are too big to attach to a post so you'll have to PM me your e-mail address so I can send them instead.

I
my laminator! Scotch brand.
I laminate file folder game peices, decorations for the walls (homemade), random other stuff.
Just be sure to feed the pouch in the right way. My machine was none to happy when I fed it a pouch with the open side first.
