I'm young, but this job is taking everything out of me. I'm exhausted when I go to bed at 9pm and just as exhausted when I have to wake up at 6am. It takes everything out of me to get out of bed. Seems like it's been really bad the past few months, I've had a home daycare for 8 years, I don't know what's up. I could literally take a nap everyday if I was able and still go to bed at 9pm.

Maybe it's time for a trip to the doctors? Just to rule out certain things, then do an overhaul of your daily routine, nutrition, water intake, ya know all the general stuff. Make sure you take down time for you. I know people always say that but it is such a needed aspect of our lives. Seriously.
Is your sleep interrupted? Do you have your own little ones at home and spend all your awake time taking care of everybody else in your life? Sometimes you need to delegate, delegate, delegate.
Don't try to be everything to everybody. That's a surefire speed bump to burn-out and self-destruction.
Good luck! I know it's an exhausting profession....most care-giving jobs are.

Could you have depression?

Or, could you be having an allergic response to something? Before finding out I have Celiac Disease I was DYING of exhaustion. I could have fallen asleep sitting up no matter how much sleep I got or how much coffee I drank.

Sounds like a completely normal reaction to working with kids for 10 hours a day!

How is your diet and water intake? I definitely notice a huge difference in energy when I am eating cleaner and drinking more water. Also a good B multivitamin for stress can help. I also have to have days off or I get very depressed. I have days where I work 7:30am to 5:30pm and on those days I really feel it. I get bored so easily.

Know your limits

How is your diet and exercise? maybe time to take a trip to the doctors.

I consider myself young...lol over 40.....

I am a very active fit person and just like you are describing, I started to wake up like that. I could not function, I felt like the walking dead. I went to the doctors and 3 weeks later had to have my thyroid removed. It's been about 6 months since I have had it taken out and I am feeling so much better. Have my energy back, I am not tired all of the time and don't feel so out of it any more.

When it doubt, check it out.

Once your rule out medical and/or psychological causes, take look at your day. Are you spending a lot of time & energy redirecting, refereeing, etc? Can you make changes to your environment/schedule so you're not working so hard?

I highly recommend going to the doctor. For the last year, I was exhausted, but chalked it up to working too hard. Turns out my thyroid and vitamin levels were out of whack. A week into medication and diet change and I have more energy than I've had in years.

I'd go to the doctor. I was feeling exhausted and could barely do anything... I dragged so bad my husband would come home at his lunch break to run the daycare (he's my licensed back up) so I could rest at nap time... Finally went to the doctor after a whole week of this and was told I had diabetes type 2.

Diet change and meditation have really done wonders for me! I'm feeling so SO much better.

Try and get some extra rest and relaxation and if you're still not feeling better go to the doctor.
