I just wanted to share a money saving tip that requires little effort and makes a big difference!

We started unplugging EVERYTHING when not in use, and have saved a TON! My electric bill was 80.00 last month and I have a 2500 sq foot, 2 story house with 4 people living in it, and I run the daycare out of it. (I have gas heat, however, so that is not part of the 80.00). Still, it's pretty low!

Check out this site for more tips. I really like this lady:

OH goodness I wish I could get DH on board with this. Unfortunately, he can't even remember to take the cell phone charger out of the wall and prefers to leave it plugged in so everyone can trip all over the cord we could definitely drop our electric bill significantly...but it will probably never happen unless I go to a Herculean effort.

Good for you guys though! That's a great achievement. Now come update us in July

I know! That and the laptop cord. At least hide it, man! I really don't want to find out that it's "just fine" if a kid puts one end in his mouth....
Pennies on the night stand is another favorite. I love you, man, but really?

I do a safety check through any place my dh has been before opening the doors each morning.

I may or may not be known for unplugging things if they are left plugged in.
It used to drive my family nuts.

Every time I would do it, I'd politely ask them to try and remember to unplug their items. Eventually, they did!

DH was all for the daycare until I kept getting onto him for leaving his pocketknife out in the kitchen. I'm like HELLO I have 4 BOYS here. Ya think they might think a pocketknife is cool????

Anyway, OP, that is such a cool idea. I need to be more vigilant on that. Especially when the triple digit heat hits. Going to the blog to watch her videos!

I try to do the same but always feel as if I'm hounding my husband. He's finally starting to do better. He never remembers to turn off the coffeepot. He always fell asleep with the Wii on as well. It would be on when I got up in the morning. Finally, he's started watching Netflix on his laptop instead to avoid me being upset about the Wii being left on.

well thats easy to say but all my plugs are hiden, so for me to unplug anything I have to move some piece of furniture, and thats not happening. I just remind everyone to turn things off.
