If we do both our daycare and family grocery shopping at the same time can I still claim mileage?

You can claim a trip as a business trip as long as the "primary" purpose of the trip was business. This means that more than 50% of the reason for the trip was business. If you buy more business food than personal food, deduct the trip as a business trip. However, don't claim 100% of all trips to the grocery store as business trips, even though they all may be primarily business. Depending on how many business and personal children you have, divide the trips up. Conservatively, you could probably take at least half the trips.
