So I had started taking one no pay personal day a month due to my long hours and burnt out feeling, just started this month first one is march 28, well my daughter gets induced march 21 so I let all my patents know I will take the 21st instead of 28th. All of them were very understanding besides the one mom I thought would never give me a problem I bend over backwords for this mom, and she threatened to find other care which I told her that was fine but to remember I need a two week notice mind you I've had her son for. 3 years and she gets mad cause I want to be there for the birth of my grand baby , it just shows you that no matter how much you do for some parents it's all about them!

I don't blame you. Taking one day off sounds like a great idea! And parents should understand that you have a life too!

I think parents need to put themselves in our position before they get all huffy. If I brought my kids to daycare where the provider's daughter was expecting, I would just assume you would close so that you could be with your daughter. How inconsiderate of dcm!

YOU feel as though you are bending over backwards for this mom.

DCM just feels like you are doing what she pays you for. kwim?

Anything we do above and beyond for our clients becomes the norm and they never view it as above and beyond....only as normal.

I think you handled it wonderfully well though! Shows mom that YOU are the boss of your business and if she cannot work within that parameter, she needs to find other care.

It is mom's like that, that make us "veteran" providers jaded when it comes to special.

I am sorry she is giving you grief.

But congratulations on the impending birth of your new grand baby!!

I agree about it being their norm. Every "special" family I had was horribly unappreciative.
