Daycare Center and Family Home Forum>Very Nice Surprise Today

This is my 2nd day back since vacation and I had a nice surprise this morning. One of my dcm's brought a package with her today when dropping off her son. It was a gift from the dcb's grandparents for me. It was a box with 3 different types of cheese and a cheese knife. The grandparents live about 2 hours from here and the area that they're from is known for their locally made cheese. Along with that a very nice card telling me thanks for taking such great care of their granddson! I thought that was so nice of them, it made my day. It's the first time in 12 years that a grandparent has given me a Christmas gift.

That is really nice. This year more than ever before, I've thought to myself...Am I thanking everyone I should be? I'm positive that I'm not but when someone does something nice like this, it really makes you want to do the same for the people in your life and spread it around.

I wrote this in another thread but since you brought up that type of thing I will share it again. There is a local family that just lost their 8 year old son due to cancer. The day after his funeral they were getting coffee at Starbucks and to make themselves feel better they decided to buy the persons order behind them. That started a whole movement here and it's called Paying It Forward for Jayden (the little boy that died). People are paying for other peoples dinners at restaurants, paying off layaways etc all over the place. My dad gave us $100 for Christmas and I'm not exactly gettiing along with him right now, so I'm taking that $100 and we're mailing it anonymously to a friend of ours that has a ton of bills due to her cancer treatment. We're "Paying it forward for Jayden"!! I just wish I could see her face when she opens that envelope and finds that money. I don't want her to know it's from us though. It feels so great to be able to do something nice for someone just for the plain reason of doing something nice, not for the thank you. So you're exactly right, spread it around
