I'm so excited! It's been a lengthy process for certification here in Oregon, but my specialist came for the last inspection yesterday and now I'm officially open. Now, onto the hard part of filling all my slots . . . Again.

Congratulations! Are there a lot of differences from SF? Were there difficulties? Do you like their system better? Just curious on your experience enjoy your filling up time. You get to make a fresh start. Thats always fun!

Thanks! Yes, it's different up here. There are two "levels" for a license. They have registered and certified care. Registered care has fewer rules, no educational requirements, fewer requirements for ongoing training, and no sanitation inspection requirement. For certified care, you have to achieve a certain step on the Oregon registry, take 15 hours of training each year, have a county health inspector "certify" you annually, and recertify through the office of childcare annually.

I completed the certified process. It took a little over 7 weeks and I still only have a provisional license. To get the 1 year license, I still have to undergo a program review. My specialist is going to come out one more time after kids are enrolled and complete an observation to make sure I provide play based educational experiences.

To me, it very different from California. The licensing process there, even for my large family childcare, was easy in comparison.
