Then a long weekend alone with my wife!

Added bonus- 2 families have called to say they aren't coming today including my late child.

Our oldest is coming and staying with the younger 2. We're heading to Merrimac Caverns and Merrimac State Park. Then into St Louis for a dinner at someplace without a kids menu and maybe a casino stop.

Going to try the zipline at Merrimac, something my wife has really wanted to do. Last month she told a friend of hers how much she wanted to do it, but "Dave wouldn't even think of trying it". I had made the reservations the week before. Nice to know after 13 years of marriage I can still through her a curve ball.

Not mentally checked out yet, but definitely deserves a celebratory library trip.

Oh, great plans!

Hope you and your wife have a wonderful weekend!

And just for the record, I love hearing a man's perspective of things like this, it's just too darn sweet, hearing how excited you are to get away with your wife.
Think I need to go and hug my hubby now, just to remind him that I appreciate him, lol!

Sounds like fun!

Where are you located? We used to live in Clayton, near Concordia Seminary and the Zoo. I miss all the free/cheap family activities but don't miss the heat and humidity!

I'm about 1/2 hour south of Springfield, IL about 90 miles north of St. Louis not too far off I-55. We go down to the zoo/ Forrest Park multiple times a year. I'd rank St Louis above most cities twice its size for things to do, especially with kids.

Thanks.

I've never understood how some people can constantly be negative about their spouse. I used to work with one lady that way. I swear in the 18 months we worked together she never said a kind thing about him, and if you heard her talk on the phone to him you'd swear she hated his guts. I just couldn't do it. I married a smart and beautiful woman. If 'm not happy about that I need my head examined
