Daycare Center and Family Home Forum>What Do You Purchase Separately?

While getting everything ready for taxes the past week I started wondering if there was an easier way to purchase daycare related items. Do you purchase cleaning supplies, paper items and groceries for your daycare separately from your family's items???? There has got to be an easier way!

When I come home from the store, I quickly go over my receipt and if there are daycare supplies on it, I mark them down in my Daycare Calendar Keeper (Redleaf) and put the receipt in the envelope in the back of it. I highlight the daycare purchase on the receipt. Easy peasy. The calendar keeper has a place for pretty much everything.

I don't use MMK Pro...I just use the regular version.....but I understand there is an online version of the calendar keeper on it??? You would just have to keep the actual receipt.

I've used the Calendar Keeper for MANY years now and LOVE it for general organizing and tax purposes.

I enter it into MMK. Sometimes I'll get a separate receipt to make it easy, sometimes I don't simply because I'm rushing.

Groceries, tp, paper towel are all purchased seperately. Cleaning supplies are not.

Meeko...great thread!

I try really hard to purchase the 100% items separate. I write "100%" on the top of the receipt and "T/S" for those items shared by my family. I too use MMK and try to enter everything weekly " Friday".

This is my current recorder keeping set-up:

I record all transactions in my check register
All CASH receipts are placed on my desk.
Come Friday I record them in MMK
Then place them in a (poly envelope) which is kept in my bill binder labeled "ready for scan & file" at the end of every month all receipts & bills are scanned and then filed away.

Hope this helps!

I have a separate bank account for my business. Whenever I go to the store I only use that account for business stuff - food, supplies, whatever. Usually when I go grocery shopping I end up checking out 2 different orders using the 2 different accounts, but when I go to enter expenses into MMK, I just need to refer to the receipts from the business account. At the end of each month, I compare my MMK entries to the statement from the bank to make sure I got them all (just in case I might have lost a receipt or didn't get one for something.)

You are totally smart!

How do you handle the shared expenses? Do you still only use the business account and
input it under T/S in MMK? Thx for sharing!
