Daycare Center and Family Home Forum>Minute Menu Working On An Apple Computer?
SunflowerMama 07:34 AM 07-08-2013
My Windows computer is no more so we're in the market for a new computer. We really want to get an Apple Macbook. I just called the Food Program folks about getting the program downloaded if we get a new computer and they said they don't think it works on Apple computers .

Does anyone with a Mac use Minute Menu?? I would hate to have to get another Windows computer just so I can stay with the food program.

Apple does not support MMK. Have you ever had a mac? I only ask bc I too jumped on the apple banwagon and I've regretted it ever since. I've only had a slow experience and not so good customer service. Mac is known for not being able to multitask. Why do you want a mac? I'm now going ba ck to windows and I cannot wait. I do not like windows 8 so I'm buying a professional laptop that has the option to roll forward to windows 8. I'd be happy to help you in any way I can.

Both links I posted talk about programs that make it so MMK IS workable on a Mac.

I purchased a Mac... And then found that MMK wasn't supported. I found a program called Cross Over. I installed it and it is great! I basically open MMK through the cross over program (one extra step after initial instal) and am now up and running.
Plus cross over let's you run any windows program without installing windows programs ($$!). The cross over was $60 after a 30 day trial. It was the perfect solution for me and I LOVE my Mac!
Let me know if you have questions

I have 2 MacBook Pros, 1 desktop Mac, an iPad, and my son has an iPhone in this house. We love apple products. I didn't think I would and I resisted for a LONG time (up until 2 years ago, actually). I LOVE their products.
The only windows based computer here belongs to the preschool children.

We are the same way. We have transitioned over to all apple products. We have a macbook, iPad mini, iphones, iPod, and an apple desktop. I LOVE their products too.

I was discouraged when I found out that MMK would not run on MAC, but once I found Crossover I couldn't be happier

I have a MacBook Pro. I have had it for two years now. I switched to mac because my daughter has had hers for 6 years with no problems. I went thru 2 pc laptops and she still had her mac, running like new. I will never go back!

When I bought my mac I had to buy windows for it you install it thru bootcamp but it was very expensive and I have problems with it all the time.

Thank you for the cross over information. I am installing it now.

I have mostly gotten great reviews from those who use MAcs. Maybe I just had a defective laptop?? I've had a macbook pro for two years and I despise it. I do not like when taking forms from a windows machine and trying to open it on a mac. also, I really need to multitak and they are terrible at multitasking. It was recommended to me that I buy more RAM. really?? I already spent $2,000 and now I have to spend more??!!!

I had an issue and I called MAc they never helped, told me they couldn't, and never got back to me. I returned their slow non multitasking ipad, ditched their never improving iphone, and now I'm considering wiping my mac and putting windows on it.

I wish I had been able to figure out what the rave is and why people think they are so wonderful.I guess I ended up with defective products??

That stinks!!! I too have switched our family over to apple products except for my hubby's pc- I always felt like windows products were so glitchy and with apple I don't have problems...
Maybe apple isn't for you- but it's an expensive lesson!! Good news is apple products re-sell great!

I have used the trial and signed up for the $59 annual fee to use MMK on my Mac with Crossover.
When I try to run a report, I get a pop-up saying that it appears that Adobe Acrobat is not installed on my system and do I want to install it. Should I?

Thanks!

I love, love, love, LOVE my Mac and will never willingly go back to a PC.

We bought VMWare crossover program to run MMK and Paint Shop Pro (my editing program) and love it too! You don't need to log in/out to use it, you can just swipe to/from it like you do with any other program on the Mac, and you can drag things back and forth to/from it.

Yay for Crossover!! I will need to look into that! I need to replace my laptop SO bad but just keep it for the food program and the kids to use. I tried a free app called Wine Bottler but it wasn't consistent and I couldn't figure it out but my neighbor uses it.
