With our mellissa and doug child sized shopping cart, my three year old daughter goes shopping with me at a local discount grocery store called Food 4 Less. She has done this on several shopping excursions and really enjoys it. I feel she is learning valuable lessons which as a young adult will help her to make wise shopping choices and possibly save money too. Right now at the age of three she can already pick out the items we buy on a weekly basis at discount prices. The shopping cart makes her excited to go to the grocery store and makes for a fun shopping experience for both of us.
Each time we go shopping at least three or four other shoppers make comments on how much she is learning from the experience and what a great opportunity it is. One customer even made the comment “by the age of thirteen she would be a power coupon saver.” They also comment on how realistic the Melissa and Doug shopping cart looks. One man said “she could do as much damage to my car as a big shopping cart.”
I feel the shopping experience with the small cart would be valuable to any young child that shops with their parent. If more kids had this fun opportunity growing up they would already know how to budget and shop for there food and other items before they leave home. So all and all kids need to get out at a young age and have a fun learning experience in the shopping world.

Many stores around here have child-sized shopping carts.
